I did click the 'how to contact us' button but it said that for spam you've just got to click the button...

I started off clicking it, moved to page two and saw a full page of spam threads and thought 'sod this'.
I click the 'report' button & just say I'm reporting the posts and user as they are spamming the boards.

It's not as if most of the forum users will even understand it!

I'm pretty sure it's designed to exploit a bug which crashes a certain brand of smart phones. Those 'special' characters trigger the bug.

I wouldn't bother marking or reporting any of it. The forum owners need to get the message and do something about the forever increasing amount of this spam but they seem to be ignoring everyones pleas and suggestions in the spambots thread.

The spam started a few months ago and its been getting a whole lot worse in recent days. Each spam post needs be marked as spam so many times before it disappears that it is impractical to do so. A lot of us are now just leaving the spam in place.

It takes less than a minute to open a thread, click the 'spam' button then report the poster. So why not do it?

There are often over 100 individual posts early in the morning- that's why users are objecting to being told to just hit the spam button.

About time they found a solution to this. Far too many to click on the spam button. They're going to bring the forum to a standstill again. Off elsewhere to find a spam free site.
Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed. ;)

If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'

Probably less time than posting on here complaining about it.
Then I just ignore it and leave MSE to do their job.
If they don't know about it because nobody has reported a user (as opposed to simply hitting the 'spam' button), don't expect posts to disappear by magic.
