Shameful compensation

There in nothing in RMs procedure to collect money at the door.
Might be a more rural round where it's a mile down each farm track and 20 miles to the sorting office and everyone knows their postman still. Sounds like someone doing a goodwill favour to save a lot of time and hassle and extra costs!0 -
As many others have posted, it will only depend on what value the parcel has been insured up to. If it's insured up to £250, then they will repay you the £250. If you hadn't purchased additional insurance, then you will only get the compensation value they state in their T&Cs, which appears to be £50.0

I'm only a few miles from the town that has my local delivery office so it's not that I'm out in the sticks.
Still, as you say, it was doing me a favour so despite it not being RM procedure, I'm certainly not going to complain about it.0 -

Likewise, I'm presuming that there is nothing in any RM procedure to allow posties to sign for mail on behalf of the addressee (even by prior agreement) or to post signed for packages through the letterbox with getting a signature, but we all know that these both happen occasionally.0 -
I don't suppose you paid cash and didn't get any paper receipt?
Anyway this is all off topic as it's how the Brasil postal service deals with this situation that matters.0 -
Where did you get that idea from?
I suppose you may be right, but I have no idea of the import tax legislation of Brazil.
Brazil is an absolute nightmare to ship to. You need vat/passport/Id data for the recipient and without it nothing will clear. Additionally the taxes are high, I'm guessing therefore the shipper didn't state a high value and now wants to claim the full value back now it's lost.
No dice! You gamble with the devil and the devil pays you £50...no more.0
