Cats, defecating on tarmac

  • You can get cat repellent granules don't know how effective they are but they could be worth a go. There has been a thread going about on the dog protection FB page about the bad press dogs get about mess but nothing is ever said about cats. Most of them bury there c**p but if they do its not particularly deep and quite a few people have caught toxoplasmosis from the cat c**p when they have been working in their gardens. You get irresponsible pet owners who will always let their pets go when and where they choose but most owners are responsible and pick up after their pets.

It's a cat. Foxes aren't prevalent in this area.

On a daily basis I see 2 or 3 cats going through my yard and I and can smell cat !!!! a mile off, a very different smell to fox !!!!!

Until you see it happen then you can't say for sure. Fox **** smells similar. As a poster already said above, cats don't usually **** on a hard surface. Other animals do, regularly.

Just because you see cats does not mean it is actually cats doing this.

Well cats actually don't like doing their crap on a hard surface, they go in garden soil and dig about. If there is no garden they might do it but more likely move to find soft digging. A small dog on the other hand very like to just crap on tarmac if passing.

My yard is completely enclosed, and inaccessible to any dogs no matter how big or small!

Cat owners like to believe their cats dig holes and bury their !!!! but the numerous, very visible, piles of cat !!!! in my flower bed as well as along the side of my house are evidence that many cats in fact, don't!

ETA: It is not a fox...the culprits are cats, I have seen them do it!!!

Not being inflammatory, but how would you propose that cat owners stop their animals from pooing on your tarmac? It's not like you can put them on a lead and teach them to toilet on command.

I get annoyed at foxes and hedgehogs pooing in my garden and birds sometimes pooing on my clean washing on the line, but realistically, what can I do about it? Not much...

Despite having a house full of vocal dogs, we are plagued by neighbouring cats. We pick up Dog Poo daily from our back garden but our front garden is a magnet for all the local cats to poo on.
They also seem to enjoy leaving poo on the tarmac right in front of the garage door. There's a pile there most mornings that I have to deal with before I can reverse the car out of the garage.

I just don't understand why I have to pick up after next doors pets.
Dirty, vile, mean looking characters. And the cats...!

Realistically I KNOW there is nothing that can be done to stop these feline poo spreaders doing their thing in my garden. But knowing it doesn't make me feel any less annoyed about it. None of the neighbours have dogs, but I bet they'd be a tad upset if I let my gang roam free in the Cul-De-Sac and they were spotted leaving deposits in their gardens.

Why is it one rule for felines and another for canines?
  • Don't tar us all with the same brush, my cat only uses a litter tray, so I am the only person who has to clean up after her, and I also find it very annoying when other cats do thier business in my garden.

BTW I think bleaching your tarmac is excessive, some hot soapy water would be fine, I usually just let the rain clean mine :rotfl:
