Yes, that page talks about it being free to download, but the Adobe page it links to says that only people who legitimately purchased it are allowed to use the download and serial number provided.

That's not true because out of interest I downloaded, installed, and registered it and I have never purchased previously but was allowed to use the download and serial number provided.

    Works fine.

    Now to uninstall.

In which case you used the serial number in contravention of the condition you agreed to:

"Only customers who legitimately purchased CS2 or Acrobat 7 and need to maintain their current use of these products may use the serial numbers provided during the download."

Which is exactly as you expect, It will work but you do not have a legitimate licensed copy, no different to if you download it and a key from a Warez site.

Adobe closed down the activation servers, so existing users would not be able to re-activate it, this is done as a service to them.

So, in other words, it's an online equivalent to an Honesty Box. :)

Yes. If people are going to steal Photoshop I don't understand why they'd steal CS2 when they can steal more recent versions.

Photoshop is way overkill for basic photo editing.

If all you want to do is things like Autofix, crop and rotate then try some of the free ones listed above.

Not really, you can't buy it even if you wanted to. Adobe closed the activation servers so provided these files with a working serial as a courtesy for existing users.

Yes really. The only people entitled to download and install it are those who have previously purchased a license. Adobe are making it available and banking on people being honest to only use it if they do have a license.

    Ergo - it's a virtual Honesty Box. :)
