  • Afternoon diary,

Well its shopping day today and I've been to a1di and h0me bargains, managed to get everything I needed and spent £52.41 :j, well under £65 budget so I've left change in my purse and put £10 note in a tin in kitchen cupboard, out of sight out of mind is my logic there.

Got home to find postie had brought me some nescaf£ cappuccinos to test, I love these but havn't bought them in a while as I've cut back on treat items (thankyou universe).

On a less positive note, the power steering has gone wrong on DH car, so car has been dropped off at garage, goodness knows how much it is going to cost but I'm thinking positively and hopefully its something simple, also on a positive it has happened today and I won't need my car for a few days, so DH can use my car over the weekend for work.

Weather is pants and kids are having a dvd afternoon, they are currently sat under fleece blankets, eating popcorn and watching paddington.

No real money news, no overpayments made and still waiting on around £45 payout money from surveys.

After a busy morning i'm catching up on diaries and having a mooch online.

Got up early this morning, tidies kitchen and swept and mopped all of downstairs rooms.

We all went to small town as the men of the house needed hair cutting, DH went off with DS and paid for that whilst I took DD to a little caf! for cake and coffee, spent £5.70, but it was nice to have some mum and daughter time. Also nipped into a couple of charity shops as I have been wanting a particular Partricia Cornwell book, was looking on amaz0n the other day to download it to my phone, anyway decided I wasn't paying £4.99 for it, so thougt I would have a look whilst I was in town and there it was on the shelf of the first shop I went in for the grand sum of 99p, so snapped it up (thankyou universe). I have already read the first chapter whilst sat outside in the lovely sunshine.

Als dropped some items off at a friends this morning, just some games and books my children have outgrown, but tlike to pass things on.

DH has got his car back, not sure of the cost as the garage hadn't done an invoice yet, they thought it would be around £70 but just said call in in the next week or so for the invoice, joys of living in the countryside where everyone knows each other :), something I'm very grateful for and why I love where I live.

Only made a payment of £1 to N£XT, but its going the right way.

Having a dilemma, DH has had a phone call from his cousin who lives in a beautiful part of the country asking if we would like to go and stay, they have a bungalow they let out next to their farm and their tenants are moving out and it will be empty for a few weeks, well of course we would love a little holiday, DH has already booked time off work, but we were just going to do house jobs and take the kids on days out, so the time off is not the issue. So what's bugging me, well of course its money and the fact I don't think we should be going away whilst we have so much debt.

Or maybe this is the universe telling us we need a holiday, some family time together, we could do it on a budget, couldn't we, I mean it doesn't have to cost much more than I would normally spend, we could do cheap things and DH has already said he will pay for the fuel, I need to go juggle figures.

  • Ok, I've decided we are doing to go away early next Sunday morning, will be away until Wednesday night, DS has a sport day at his new school on the Thursday so need to be back for this, I'm going to take all our food with us, we also need to take blow up mattresses and sleeping bags/ duvets with us as well as there is no furniture in house, cousin is going to put some of their spare crockery etc in the house so we can cook, there is a breakfast bar in the kitchen so we have somewhere to eat and cousin also said they have lots of outdoor furniture so willput tables and chairs out I the garden, it will be fun and will be like camping but in a house. We will also be spending lots of time with cousin at their house, so it will all be fine.

Just the money side of things, I have listed/relisted some bits on £bay and I'm aiming for around £15/£20, would like enough to be able to buy ice creams for us and cousin and there 2 children, just don't want to be scrimping and I certainly DO NOT want to use a CC for anything.

You can do it........and even if you step outside the budget a little don't panic it's not the end of the world. I am assuming OH knows how tight a budget you are on and is making his contribution??

Is that Pleasure Beach B'pool in your list BTW?

Hi Ig, yes it is B'pool, we live about 45mins away.

DH is well aware of how tight the budget is and I sat him down with me and showed him what I had moneywise and what needed paying, he is paying for fuel there and back as it is a 3 hr car journey, food shouldn't be extra as I will just take what we would normally eat and will also do lots of baking to take for cousins as a thankyou, I know I'm just panicking about money and doing the what ifs,, I'm planning on lots of walks and free things with the kids, geocaching etc, just want to be able to say to everyone shall we have an ice cream without wondering how i'm going to pay for it.
