Help!! Smashed My Motorola E1000

I am looking to your good people for your advice please!!

Today I dropped my six month old Motorola E1000, and immediately saw the internal screen has smashed half way up, effectively splitting the screen in half. The bottom half of the screen is constantly rolling, so although I can make and receive calls , accessing the menu is impossible as I am going boss-eyed trying to see it.
I have been told a minimum of £75 to replace the screen, it will cost me £75 on house insurance, so is my cheapest option just to buy a cheap used LG8120 for example off ebay (they seem to come in at £45'ish) and put my sim card in that?

Any suggestions gladly received.

Many thanks,

Sue
