One Off Job for Someone. Paying Tax Question?

Hi all,
Will try and keep this short.
I have done some design work / website for a local company that a friend works for. its just a one off job i am doing for them which they have asked for some help on. So the main question is they want me to send an invoice to them so they can pay me for the work which is under 1K
How do i go about paying Tax or what ever needs to be paid on what i earn as i have another fulltime job in the week which i pay NI and Tax on as well.
Do i need to register self employed or can i just complete a self assessment or do i need to inform anyone.
Many Thanks

I think from past questions along these lines then you can just phone HMRC and declare a one off job on which tax needs to be paid.
Before you phone them, think about whether you have any allowable expenses you can deduct from whatever you're invoicing this company for, you take them off before declaring this taxable sum.
Although do consider whether this might lead to other 'one-off' jobs!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Hi
Well its a website site I have designed for them. they said they may need the odd update during the year but that's it.
I don't think I could claim any expenses either as I have not had to pay for anything.

For up to £2,500 a year you can just contact the tax helpline rather than ahving to do self assessment. See https://www.gov.uk/income-tax/how-you-pay-income-tax0

That sounds familiar. My accountant mentioned to me £2500 in connection with extra income earned outside of my business a few years.0
