There's gotta be more to this than meets the eye.... i'm sure very only charge something like £12 fee for missed/late payments.

I think that's without interest. I'm sure that's for the letter or notification. I'm not sure how 230 pound is racked up in charges. This is something I need to invest ate more on. Very stated that no payments have been made since January.

It is £12 for a missed payment. I wonder if they add on additional charged when you miss payment after payment? I can't really work out the T&C. I think they start adding interest if you don't meet your payments

Also on rereading the OP it seems that Very said he could pay in full as long as he paid the interest (which I assume was the agreed deal when they signed up to pay on credit, only now he has to pay it all in one go) which isn't unreasonable as they have used 8 months of the credit agreement, 4 properly and 4 improperly.

It's people like you that really bring down the forum. I am not blaming very but there are things in place with other companies that help people when unexpected thing occur. If everyone was perfect there would not be situations like reclaiming bank charges. But we know in life bad things happen, people lose jobs, get into debt or worse. My situation happen to be one of these. After reading up on very how there business model works is that they hope people miss payments. Like with how a lot of companies work they take advantage or make it as complicated as they can to the consumer. You obviously can't give proper advice so you end up blaming the person who asks for help. I'm sorry but your mentality is not suited to think of anyone but yourself. I just hope when you need help people belittle you.
The post was valid, you only want to hear answers that support you and that doesn't happen here. The banks charges were unfair that's why they were brought into line with a £12 limit.

There is nothing to suggest here that Very's charges are unfair, they have the same £12 limit and they have been ignored for 4 months, perhaps you could tell us these companies that waive charges after being ignored for 4 months?

More than the money you owe you should also consider the damage it's doing to your wifes credit rating, fixing the problem is better than fighting a losing battle.

Me and my wife moved house last year and got a fridge freezer from very in my wife's name. Four months later we had a baby boy and my wife started suffering from post natal depression.

Four months later I found a letter in my wife's name regarding not paying very. I rang up questioning the charges. Apparently my wife has not paid the payments which the extra charges was in the hundreds. I explained the situation about my wife and offered to pay in full for the item. But they said I had to pay all of the interest thus adding £260 just for missing 4 months. I told them I was not going to pay the interest as I thought because it was unfair due to my wife's circumstances. They said if I rang in advance they could of done something but my wife was not in a fit state at the time. They offered to reduce it by £50 but I said it was unfair and said they were trying to profit from my wife's mental health problems.

Is there anything can be done?

    Hi tdsmith,

We'd need to access the account to confirm exactly what has happened here but it sounds as though an order placed on Buy Now Pay Later has been charged to your account during the period in which no payments were received.

Buy Now Pay Later purchases, if not paid for in full before their charge date, will incur deferred interest when charged to the account. This interest would have been advised at the point of order and is calculated over the duration of the Buy Now Pay Later period. This is the most likely explanation for the charges applied to your account.

Please ask the account holder to email us at Help@VeryHQ.co.uk & we can look into this.

    Many Thanks
