Nationwide select no contactless

Just got a new Nationwide select credit card and there is no contactless with it! Nationwide say they only do with debit cards. I'm really surprised as I've been using contactless with my current CC of a couple of years, so considered it old/standard technology. Is this common with other issuers? Any reason why why they would do this?

Some banks have been slower than others to jump on the contactless bandwagon: http://www.theguardian.com/money/2014/oct/04/contactless-cards-bank-lloyds-nationwide-santander.
My Nationwide debit card is contactless; my credit card from them isn't.0 -
Seem Nationwide is a bit of a laggard. Hopefully the will put contactless on CCs in the near future. I have just got so used to using it.0

I suppose with the release of Apple Pay (Nationwide is one of the launch partners) and later on the in year Android Pay, contactless on cards won't be such a pressing matter when you can add the same card to your phone.0

Maybe it's a new thing then, but none of the credit cards showing on their website have the contactless symbol on them.

Looks like Halifax, at least, are now issuing contactless by default:
"All new current accounts come with contactless as standard and for existing customers, you’ll get a contactless debit card on your next renewal." (from http://www.halifax.co.uk/bankaccounts/debit-cards/contactless/)
My Halifax Clarity credit card is contactless but that accounts only about a month old...0 -

If you must have contactless then dump it and get a different card: My MBNA Low Rate Mastercard has contactless.0 -
Could get another card. Wanted the cash back and good abroad rates with nationwide.0

My Tesco Bank and Sainsbury's Bank MasterCards aren't contactless either. Apparently Tesco are 'looking at' enabling the functionality in future.
Maybe (as posted above) with the imminent launch of Apple Pay they've elected to leave it off for now? It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0
