A spendy day today. Spent £70 for the weekly groceries, including toiletries, toilet papers, and gardening materials. Still under budget (£90 per week) so there is still room for small top up if needed but I am hoping not to have to do any so I could put the excess in the pot.
Did some brand dropping today - instead of DS2's favourite tomato ketchup, bought ALDI's own brand for only 55p for a 500 ml bottle. And DS2 actually prefers the taste of the cheaper version a- win win! Also bought a 500 g jar of Alcafe for £1.29 in lieu of the famous brand that costs £4.29 per jar. I needed some condensed milk and got 3 tins of an unknown brand for 95p per tin in lieu of Carnations £1.79."There is Life AFTER DEBT."LBM 2009 Total Debt £49046.24 Debt Free as of 27/08/20150 -
I can attest to the fact that the Aldi own-brand ketchup tastes no different to the super expensive ones. A wise brand shift. You will need to tell me what the Alcafe is like!July Grocery Challenge: £52.76/£140

To be honest I like it better than Nescaf!. I find the taste to be deeper and less flat. It is worth a try for £1.29. Oh and the kids prefer their baked beans too."There is Life AFTER DEBT."LBM 2009 Total Debt £49046.24 Debt Free as of 27/08/20150 -

There are very few brand items I buy these days. eg I only like H***z baked beans and salad cream, o*o cubes and B*sto for gravy and these I always keep an eye out for offers and stock up. Tea and coffee are medium-priced brands.
Otherwise I'm all for buying the cheapest :money:
Mr T today was £ 10.93 including an 11p MOC for items checked last time.
We had cheesy jacket spuds, corned beef and baked beans for dinner today - really yum.
Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday

Another £10 spent on essentials... Doing ok so far this month! It's hrlped that we visited family over the weekend and they fed us (yummy roast dinner with all trimmings and apple pie!). We had to grab done good on the go but that comes out of a different budget :j
I'm also loving Ald!'s ketchup and coffee, it's completely insane how good their food is. We're addicted to their pulled pork and chocolate as well. And local strawberries to boot - all ripe and utterly perfect, unlike so many I've had over the years from the big four. :T
PS. Their beetroot and goats cheese crisps are insanely nice!a penny picker upper. love the sound of your pulled pork billie jo, nsd today will spend tomorrow as need a few bits from where I work should be about 5 quid.....I hope
Thanks it was really lovely but used green beans instead of courgettes as we had none left.
Congratulations to niptuckfan I hope everything goes well for you.
A!di brands we like their mushroom soup but not so keen on the chicken. Also another vote for their beans, rice crispies/cornflakes, coffee. However DH doesn't like the crisps (but does the dorritos) or brown sauce (I don't eat tomato sauce but DH likes it) Their dips are lovely and 34p cheaper than what we used to buy and their chorizo slices are a lot cheaper.
Spent £27.02 today this included a joint of pork which is for Sunday and should be plenty left over for another time.MARCH £62.38/2500 -
Another NSD today
