What's up with Boots ?

Options
I have always used Boots for my prescriptions - however, recently - they have failed to get drugs in on time for me - sometimes, despite my using my GP's "order by internet" repeat prescription service - when I order, Boots fails to have the full order available - necessitating a return trip.

They have had an order for some compression socks for almost a fortnight and they STILL are unable to fill it - telling me today "NEXT Wednesday"

Sorry Boots - you used to be trustworthy - but no longer.....

Anyone found similar, or is it just a local problem ?

Perhaps having issues with their "tax breaks" so their focus is somewhere else
    ally.

You should try using an independent pharmacy. Most of them will have deliveries daily (or twice daily if you're in a large town/city) and whenever I've had to order compression socks, (for customers) they've not taken longer than 1-2 days to arrive in the shop.

Boots pharmacies have always been a bit hit and miss. There has been a small branch of Boots in my home town for many years. They have never once managed to fill a prescription in less than 20 minutes, even if the shop is completely empty, and they are always out of stock of basic items like asthma inhalers and common antibiotics. Even their long-standing staff get their prescriptions elsewhere!

I changed to the small Boots opposite my GP, after the small independent often failed to reorder my repeat prescription.

However, they aren't much better and sometimes are worse. They order items from the repeat list, which I haven't requested and last month, did me two months' supply , with two different prescribed dates, all in one pack, but with just one month's supply of a controlled drug, which would have been checked at the GP office.

Even worse, last year, they dispensed the wrong drug. Luckily just standard instead of enteric coated asprin , but this shouldn't happen when two people sign and check the packages.

As it stands I can't see Boots lasting much longer. I haven't set foot in a branch for almost 2 years.

Boots are too big to fail !!
They went downhiĺl when they merged with Walgreen (U$)
  • The Boots (mostly chemist) near my local doctors is atrocious and one of their staff members is an absolute nightmare who has stand up rows with customers and once called us liars for repeating something she had once said (about ordering an item when she didn't follow it through and order it - we've never been in again since).

They never once managed to fill a prescription completely for us and always have to order something in. If it's an emergency now we take it straight down to the Asda's chemist (who always have filled them in) otherwise we let our local independent who does our repeats pick it up and fill it.

    OK Update
I ordered a pair of compression socks through a prescription - 3 weeks ago and was told to expect them within a week
2 weeks later - nothing had arrived and I was told "another week" - then Bots blamed their suppliers - they finally told me - last Friday, to expect them this Tuesday (2 days ago) - they arrived in TODAY (almost 4 weeks)
Good job they were only socks
  • The staff at my local Boots are friendly but they are either very slow or give the wrong timescale (ie, tell you to come back in 10 minutes when actually they should've realised it would take them 20 minutes to deal with).

I did use their service where they get the prescription from your GP so you don't have to but I cancelled it after a couple attempts. I feel more in control if I get it myself rather than relying on them to do it and then they don't.
