That's what I meant- especially with the PRS, you have to very carefully read their T&C and look in to exactly who they're collecting for. They'll make it sound like they collect and distribute for every music act in the world; in reality the pool they collect and distribute for is actually reasonably small.

We have original live music four nights per week- I would say well under 1% are members of the PRS. (but the PRS won't offer up that information freely.)

Basically they're thieves.

You can get non-PRS and PPL music from providers such as Amazing Instore. It's not licence-free - there is a licence fee which goes to the artists who get played - but it's probably a lot cheaper than PRS/PPL and you can get music appropriate for your business.
