I sent hubby off to the local Body Shop with instructions to purchase a particular item for me. He kindly came back with it, only for me to realise that it is more expensive to purchase instore than online.
I've emailed customer services to check that it wasn't a mistake and received back a response to say that, yes, things are priced differently, here's a lecture on economics. For the sake of a £3 goodwill gesture, they've just lost a customer
It's not so much about the different prices in the different outlets, but the poor way they've handled my enquiry

Right, so they've said that the prices are higher in store than online, explained to you why this is (at least that's what I assume you mean when you say they gave you a "lecture on economics", or. They have explained why it's cheaper to run the online side of the business and therefore products are priced accordingly), and yet you're boycotting them "for the sake of a £3 goodwill gesture"?
So essentially, you're never going to shop there again because they wouldn't give you money when they haven't actually done anything wrong?0 -

It sounds like they replied telling you why things are more expensive in store than online? If that's all they did then that is actually right and many retailers have the same policy.
Why should they lose £3 on a sale when they have done nothing wrong?0 -

Why should a business explain their pricing strategy to you? I can't think of any retailers that would willingly give away such information!0 -

You said you were looking for them to clarify their strategy?
Having looked at your posts to them on Facebook I'd say they have been polite and timely in dealing with your query. Sadly you come across as throwing a strop because they've not offered you the price difference back - why you think you are entitled to one, I have no idea.0 -
