Nice one OP!
Got a mac mini..!!!0 -
Yea... great deal. I popped into the Croydon Toys R US on the off chance that they may have one. The chap said they didnt sell it anymore. So I asked if there were any demo units... he said actually there are. I got the last Mac Mini, but they DO have a demo Mac PC in stock, so get in quick people.
On another note, if you are willing to void the warranty you can upgrade both the CPU (to a Core Duo or even Core 2 Duo, as long as its 667Mhz FSB) and the ram (2x512MB or 2x1GB SoDimms). I managed to get a 1.8Ghz Core2Duo and another 512MB of ram, a bigger hard drive all off ebay today for under £150. That + the £99 is cheaper than a brand new Mac Mini and mine is higher specced. Happy days!!!0 -
Out of interest, would anyone want to swap a mac mini for a macbook (plus the cash difference)? Just that I actually started reading this thread as I wanted to act as a media center for my telly and ended up buying this macbook instead!0

I've just come back from Croydon (all out!): I was hoping to upgrade my Mini (still under warranty). Happy to swap if you don't mind it having a bit less warranty: still in very good nick!Out of interest, would anyone want to swap a mac mini for a macbook (plus the cash difference)?0 -
A word of warning to everybody who managed to pick up a mac mini or macbook. All the ex-display stuff is out of warranty but fear not! You need to ask Toys r us to contact Applecare on 0870 876 0753 to say they've just recently sold you the hardware, and they'll also need the product's serial number.
I found this out today as my macbook had a faulty battery and so I took it to my local Apple store who were very helpful. I wasn't able to register my macbook as applecare was closed today, but Toys r us will give me a call tomorrow to confirm this has been done.
Still got my battery replaced!0 -
Do these come with chips?0

Also, in addition to normals advice it is worth noting that there have been problems with the macbooks shutting themselves down without reason. The one i bought from Leicester branch did just that when i turned it on.
You need to make sure you download the latest mac OS from the apple website and then run a firmware update (also on the apple site) to stop this happening. Mine is now fine.
The only thing i am struggling with is how to change the name of the 'owner' of the computer. Mine says 'Toys R Us Leicester's' computer when i turn it on on the login page. I have succesfully removed the old users and added my own though?!0 -
I'm no expert, as I'm new to this mac thing, but you may have to reinstall.0
