Terminating raised (dado) tiles

Hi,
I need some help with this one, as I've just spent £45 on a load of border tiles that may be useless!
I'm planning to put a border of raised dado tiles like these around the bathroom:

But what the heck do I do with the end of a tile if it is going to be left exposed.
I can't just have the big gap showing - partly because that's not very waterproof, and partly because it'd look bloody awful!
Any help would be REALLY appreciated!

Don't know how easy it would be to achieve a 45 degree cut on one of those tiles, but if it were possible, you could form a mitre and use a very small piece of the dado tile to return it to the wall. Not sure if this will make sense. I can picture it in my mind, but it's not to easy to describe on words. Good luck anyway.0

Do they not sell end/corner pieces? We had something similar a while ago and they actually sold end tiles which had solid ends on them rather than hollow ones.
Idea above could work, although actually cutting the tile might not be much fun! You'd want a section with 45 degree cuts on it, making a wedge shape - it is difficult to describe!
Otherwise, could you just stuff the gap under the loopy bit of the tile with grout? Not perfect, but at least it would make it waterproof. Maybe you could dye/stain/paint the grout on just that one tiny pary to match the tile and make it virtually invisible?
Good luck!0 -
yes you can cut these at 45 degrees using an electric tile cutter (carefully) however im presuming you are not referring to corner finishing but visible ends. For that one I would squirt silicon into the gap and then smooth off below the internal ridge line, should look fine.
Failing that mix some paint dye into a small bit of grout to get a good colour match and grout inside the gap, if its the same colour it would look real good.0 -
Thanks for all your responsesim presuming you are not referring to corner finishing but visible ends.
Yup, you presumed right!Do they not sell end/corner pieces? We had something similar a while ago and they actually sold end tiles which had solid ends on them rather than hollow ones.
Unfortunately, they didn't have any like that, but that's a very good idea.Failing that mix some paint dye into a small bit of grout to get a good colour match and grout inside the gap, if its the same colour it would look real good.
When you say paint dye I presume you mean the actual dye they use in paint! Where would I get that? Hobbycraft?!0 -
Or buy a couple of tester pots in B&Q, I would suggest experimenting with the stuff to see how well the paint dyes the grout when dry etc.
Failing that there are coloured grouts available, as mentioned in this thread:-
