Confused Regarding Rejection

Where are all the haters now???0

I wasn't a hater and knew this process was doomed from the start, Choyaa should never have reapplied for the alternative role.0

Choya,
I am not a hater and I am sorry if you are going through such a tough time yourself that you have to take it out on others. I can only think that that is the situation to justify the gloating that you are now displaying towards Chotta simply because they haven’t heard anything.
It is not unrealistic that Chotta has skills, experience and even qualifications that better suit a higher level job or even that an interviewer might recognise that. It is also not unrealistic that someone else is better suited for that lower role and maybe even the personalities that work within that role. Maybe they didn’t need to make up the numbers for the second interview but maybe the person who took the time to personally phone Chotta because they actually thought that it could be a good opportunity for Chotta is actually good at their own job.
Your delight however in their delay in letting Chotta know is completely unacceptable.
At this time in this country there are too any people going through a hard time and many people reach out for help, advice and reassurance. I agree that false hope can be a bad thing but you have delighted in trying to be a voice of doom not a voice of reason. We can all apply caution to situations but you have taken it too far. You need to realise that we are not criticising you personally (although that is how you may take it) but we are criticising your behaviour. Only you can control that and you need to realise that this was Chotta’s thread not a thread for you to prove some imaginary point.
Chotta – I am sorry to interrupt your thread as I rarely post but it seemed to have been high jacked for all of the wrong reasons. I for one am still keeping my fingers crossed for you. I look forward to hearing how you did either way and wish you the best of luck.0 -
I've been watching this thread with interest - I've been interviewed and successfully got jobs where questions have been skipped because I had answered them in a previous question.
I've also been successful after a wait of over a week (my current role) and was a first choice not a runner up. It turned out my new line manager's sibling was very very poorly (and sadly passed away the week before I started). There are all sorts of reasons why notifying the outcome of an interview could take a while - and they dont all mean that the outcome will be negative.
Choyaa was interviewed on the 6th and told she should hear within a week - I would have taken that to mean early next week (not the end of this week). If the folks doing the scoring are on leave early next week they will have had other work to finish up before their long weekend. Its not over until they advise the outcome to Choyaa.
AS for why did they decline for the first job but ask her to apply for the managers role - that would make sense to me (working in HR you often can't just transfer an interview to another job especially where the second job is in a different banding or has substantially different responsibilities or is for a different department/team). I would interpret this as the employer feeling based on her original interview that they felt she was a better fit for the line manager job based on her skills and experience.
Cotta I think you need to step away from the thread and just wait patiently for the outcome.
Choyaa good luck whatever the outcome. I still have my fingers crossed for you.0 -
Hi All,
I just want to say that I am truly humbled by the complete decency of so many on here. I don't mind that some on here think I'm a dreamer or being led up the garden path. Monday was a very tough interview, two hours is a long time when it was only supposed to be forty minutes and several questions about the internal workings of the company I could not answer.
I'll hope that something positive comes early next week.0 -
OK, I'm willing to listen to someone else's perspective but can I ask where is the evidence to suggest something good is going to come from either interview, here are my views:
1. Already been rejected by the company for a "lower role".
2. Interview went on for one hour and twenty minutes beyond stated time.
3. Interviewee was unable to answer several questions.
4. No response from company four days after interview despite being told contact within a week and the company are on holiday now for several days.0 -
I don't know Cotta, just hope you'r wrong.0

I thought I'd check in again to see whether the OP has had any news. Don't give up hope Choyaa - I once waited two months to hear that I'd got the job!:)
I initially thought that some of the contributors to this thread were incredibly insensitive. I no longer think that. They must know exactly what they're doing and they must know what impact their words are having. I'm genuinely disgusted.0 -
I'm all for reapplying but am I the only one to think that this could be a complete waste of time with no role at the end of it?
Surely all job applications are of this nature? There are no guarantees with job applications. I just spent hours on an application only to be told, the day after the closing date, that the post had been given to a redeployee.0 -

Unfortunately all I said came to pass.0
