Post #8 has a very extensive list of places to avoid at all costs.
Might be worth hunting down the Leeds nurses Facebook page and posting a message......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Headingley has the most burgled street in Europe.(just a fact) and the rest are not far behind, especially in house share areas, it also full of pizz head students shouting all night (vibrant).
If it is St james, the area surrounding has had 4 major race riots and only last month a 60 man brawl with machetes spilling on to the street.
If you want peace and quiet you have to travel in to work.
The inner belt of suburban surround is mainly rough high crime high grime.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -
LGI and St James are next door to each other and look part of the same hospital complex.
No they are not. St James is on Beckett Street, a considerable walk from the train station and not a place to walk at night. The LGI is an easy walk through the city centre, up East Parade, straight across the Headrow and up Calverley Street. Consider Woodlesford and Garforth (two train stations here).0 -

I don't know where your info is from, but LGI and Jimmy's are 2-3 miles from each other.0 -
My thanks to everyone who has posted - be it places to avoid - or strategies for looking for somewhere.
It hasn't been decided which complex I will be working at - could be LGI or St James. I should know by the end of the month.
For the locals of Leeds - I fancy the idea of a city centre flat or one overlooking the canal. Is it a good place to live?
My thanks again for the advice :0)0 -

If you are referring to the flats off Wellington Street, there are many escorts based there.0 -

My mum has suggested a B&B for the first few weeks if I can't find anything - she is right with most things - so I may consider it as a fall back.
Thanks again folks.0 -
That list of places to avoid is out of date and very broad. There are quiet and rough areas of each of the places mentioned. Many used to be rough but the council has demolished some of the housing and in the years since housing developers have or are building new housing, much for purchase, so the areas are changing. As has been said, Headingly has highest crime rate in Europe. You had best look on the police crime Web site when you find places rather than look at generalisations :-)0
