A rather simplistic way of looking at it as a whole. It is part of it yes, only a small part mind you. This has also bought me over 90 grand in cash and prizes over the last few years so put that in your pipe and smoke it. Mind you, I do like seeing such negativity because people like that rarely succeed, keep on losing.:T
Well done you, nice to have so much luck! Other people do this and don't win anything! I guess from what you are saying they must be very negative people so they will always lose? Funny that because I've won over 10k worth of stuff over the years too. Thats odd isn't it seeing as I'm so "negative". :rotfl: Your theory is spot on!0 -
I avoided this thread for a long time for obvious reasons, but now that I bought Vodka (Comp in the txt forum) I'm ready to comment
Most, if not all, of the people that actually post on this forum are generally nice and polite, I can be a bit obnoxious though, so with that thought in mind :Come on guys, play nice
Obviously, some people go on to become valued members and contributors, but most of them just give up after a week.Tara_Evans wrote: »Plus you guys know so much more about entering competitions (like tools, the best comps, how to use the MSE boards) that's the skill I want to tap into.

I can't stress enough that I want to make this as realistic as possible, but you can't deny that some of you have won fab prizes.
That 1 win could be a £20,000 car, or as posted it could be a fish slice, a frisbee, or a ballpoint pen ... but, in saying that ... if you wanted to win something "good", ie that £20,000 car then your chances would reduce to about 1 in 50,000 (at least) because not everyone is interested in winning a frisbee or a fish slice.
But, you could enter 1 competition in your life, it just happens to be for a £20,000 car and you win it ... there's no science to it, there's no logic.
I'm sure you could find someone who entered 20,000 competitions in a year and won literally nothing ... but you don't wanna write a story about that guy, no matter how true it is.Tara_Evans wrote: »I know everyone has the same chance but I do believe that the MSE boards are superior to a lot of the sites...there's a sense of community here that you don't get on other sites ...
Flattery will get you everywhere/ nowhere ... being a member of MSE isn't going to increase your chances of winning.
But they must think we, on this forum, know "secrets".
Did you not get that email, Jaibaby? ... awkward
There is nothing we can say, what do you want us to say? .... I've made a living off entering competitions, I earn "£50,000" a year entering competitions?, it's not true ... sure, you can win a family holiday, a PS4, a new TV ... I've never won any of these things, but of course people on the forums have.
What do you define as "BIG" (You put it in caps in your original post, so I'm assuming you don't mean a PS4) ... and what kind of "story" do you want?
"I've been entering online competitions for 5 years and, finally last week I won a car" ... or are you looking for the "I've won £100K in 6 months entering competitions"?
Your story should probably be : I've been entering online competitions for over 3 years, about 6 hours a day and I've won a family Holiday, 6 bottles of wine, tickets to the premiere or blah blah and some other crap" ... because that's, generally, how it is.

The latest "comping glory" story

I have been comping for just over a year and, for the right fee, am happy to say all my wins below come from spending 3 mins a day entering comps. lol
Just google "professional comper" or "enters 1000s of competitions". There are more news stoires like this than you can shake a stick at. Most of which make it sound like a walk in the park, and yes, these stoies do hack off current compers as all the newbies come on and complain that they have entered 5 comps a day for a week and have not had a sniff.
The truth is, yes, you could enter one ITV comp and win 100k, but it is more likely that you will enter 1000s of comps before you get a win worth over £100, never mind £100k.
In the article posted above, the comper mentions somewhere (I really can't be bothered to read it again) that they spend a mere 10 hours a week for a return of £20k a year. Instead of another reporter coming on here, asking the same old questions and writing the same old article, why doesn't a reporter become a comper, enter X comps a week and find out how long it takes and what the returns really are? I know it's been done before, but I would be far more interested in reading an article written that way.2017 wins = £1350
2016 wins = £125 (18 months off comps)
2015 wins = £6,460
2014 wins = £1,3500 -
there was one last month:

Thank you, I saw that one,just a shame the nationals don't run something similar.2017 wins = £1350

It's data entry we work on commission..........our commission is awarded as prizes randomly.
Tedious, mind numbing but the odd win makes you forget the days after days after days of zilch.
Not a get rich quick fix or something at all to be relied on to support yourself in any which way.#JusticeForGrenfell0 -
I found a 2005 copy of Chat magazine with an article about me some of my tips included "always sent first class or if its really important send it special delivery" I never do that so why would I have encouraged it in the article!THEN i remembered the article was sponsored by the POST OFFICE therefore they would have wanted their pound of flesh for giving Chat Magazine £150.Whoever is thinking of doing it think long and hard then if you think its worth it do it!!0
