I wonder how interviewer and interviewee will get in touch?
  • I agree! Comping really is down to time, patience and effort...plus luck.

But I'd really like to promote the way that MSE does comps - I think the boards are fab (and I've used them myself for entering comps). I also want to insert a warning to those who want to be a top comper to not sign up to the 'pay to enter comp' websites, as they are a real scam.

Plus you guys know so much more about entering competitions (like tools, the best comps, how to use the MSE boards) that's the skill I want to tap into.

I totally understand your reservations (and why you don't want more people to find out about the boards) but surely more exposure means more people using the boards = more comps to enter?

As Megan said, I'm completely sensitive to the issue - I don't want to glorify it - but just share some of your amazing stories.

My email address is Tara.Evs@gmail.com - if anyone wants to get in touch and I've been given permission to do this as an approved journalist.

This is a good thread to have a look at - the May average for a win:

1 win for every 1328 comps entered

and that 1 win could be a ballpoint pen or a frisbee!!

An article discouraging people from thinking they can change their lives by entering competitions now and again may be better lol!

  • That is a good stat - thank you!

I can't stress enough that I want to make this as realistic as possible, but you can't deny that some of you have won fab prizes.

There used to be a lot bigger wins but ITV now don't do many online entry competitions so the wins are few and far between these days. MSE users have the same chance of winning as anyone who enters off their own back on the big prizes

I would like to add that a "fab prize" may not necessarily be those prizes that are of the greatest monetary value.

A "fab prize" may in actual fact be of a very lowly value but may mean the world to the person who has won it.

I for example won two tickets to last week's Wales -v- Belgium match in Cardiff. This was by no means my highest value win but to me it has been my most prized win to date as it was a game I was desperate to go to and could not get tickets for as they were sold out. It meant the world to me.

Highlighting the few who have won fantastic holidays, cars or large cheques is not in my opinion what comping is about.

I enter around 60 or 70 day sometimes a lot less depending on time with kids etc. But i tend to win something every month or so and normally 1 thing that is really good at least twice a year, by really good i mean over a prize value of £250 for 1 prize.

I normally spend approx 2 hours per day entering competitions and have won such things as flights to new york, 2 x TV's. a PS3, a BOSE soundsystem, a season ticket for Manchester United, 2 x £1000 aswell as countless items such as CD's goody bags etc.

I dont worry about prizes, i do competitions as i love entering them, and winning is definately a bonus for me. As people say you have to be in it to win it.

I agree, that's a lovely story - this is exactly the type of thing that I'm looking for.

Thanks for the info. I noticed that ITV have cut back on online comps since the gov quietly changed their rules (they don't have to offer an online option :( ). It's a massive shame as I know a lot of you won a big prize from them.

I know everyone has the same chance but I do believe that the MSE boards are superior to a lot of the sites...there's a sense of community here that you don't get on other sites and it's lovely reading stories about what you've won. Whether it's a toaster or a dream holiday, the little things are often the ones that mean more...
