It isn't always apparent that the code is "invitation only" but whilst it may be "flippin annoying" for you, I'm sure it must help some people.

By moaning about people who are genuinely trying to help by sharing codes can be detrimental to the whole point of this part of MSE as they can be put off from posting in future. Even if they are unaware that the code they have is for only an invited few, at least they are trying to be helpful. Plus, it could be that there will be a general code to keep an eye out for in future.

More annoying are those who have been on this forum for a long time yet still post chat in a thread which clearly says "no chat" as has happened today, twice by the same person.

Imo, it's even more annoying when someone keeps going on about a simple post that was intended to point out an issue that may be helpful to others in future.

No-one is asking for chapter and verse when a post with codes is made. People post them quickly to help others and may have little time to do it, or may be unaware of some things. I have done so myself in the past.

I am excruciatingly grateful to the individuals that take the time and effort to inform their fellow MSE'rs of the cinema codes, and would not offend them for the world.

Which is why I said 'it's annoying', not 'you annoy me when you do this...'. And given that the last X amount of cinema code posts I've clicked on have been 'invited guests only' to the point that I can't recall the last time I was able to use one, it got the better of me this time.

So, we can continually debate the merits/demerits of a partial/semi/complete or OTT cinema code post and the responses to them, or we can let it drop at this point?

With SFF codes, can you now only book if you've been emailed the code?


I have tried to book using a code from the codes only thread, there are tickets available but says it's for 'invited guests only'.

I saw 'Brooklyn' today, it was a very good film & I'm glad I went. The cinema was full but the screen was small & only about 8 rows of seats. I did wonder if there were other MSE'ers there as codes are posted in the other thread. Am I the only one who sit in cinema wondering this?
