Anyone else lost TalkTalk Broadband?

Options
On a previously faultless line, my modem has lost the connection to TalkTalk Broadband today. PPP Login is connect but the ADSL Link is down. I do not believe either the modem or other equipment is faulty as it's been used on other lines without difficulty.

Anyone else lost broadband access from about 21:00 today (Sunday)?

I'm writing this using mynew Web 'n Walk package from T-Mobile.

Not on Talk talk but similar problems with BT, Home Hub connecting for a couple of minutes then loosing sync. Tried numerous resets no good, now on to a BT Voyager may be a coincidence but normal service was restored about 23:30 will retry the hub later today. Suggest you give yours another try if still problems then you'll need support (i pity you as i would not wish Talk Talk on my worst enemy, past customer NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!)

Hmm, the modem should keep trying to connect, it's showing dial on demand.

This is exactly why I'm so surprised because I've had no complaints with TalkTalk and would indeed recommend them to new customers. You can see my theory about the corrolation between good/bad experiences and people joining Talktalk elsewhere on here which seems to have held true for a lot of people that I've spoken to. Been with them for over a year.

I'll do a power cycle of the modem just in case it's having difficulty picking up a signal due to a stale state.

all working now, must have been the modem holding the previous connection.

Co-incidental your BT failed at the same time though, or maybe just fate :D

after almost a year of faultless broardband from TT, we have suddenly developed a problem....
all happened within the same week, we recived a letter from TT advising of 'essential exchange upgrading and maintainence' and that we may experience disruption to BB on 8th august, when it was not back on the next day we called TT and was told it must be a problem with our modem or too many cookies, we reset our computer settings as advised, but the fact it went off on the day the maintainence was done was too much of a coincidence.
On two occasions we did manage to get on, but lost connection after a couple of seconds, or if we wanted to go to a different page or site, we would loose the connection.

A week on we called again, to find out if the engineers had checked the maintainence work at the exchange, only to be advised that our broadband had been cancelled!!
Why and by whom this had been requested TT did not know, they only had a message on their screen to say that BT had completed the request!!
They did some tweeking and button pressing and we were back on line straight away....but only intermitantly.

Confusingly, a week prior to our problems, we recieved another letter from TT saying 'we will be conecting you to our BB services as soon as possible, sorry for the delay' called TT and they said it was a computer generated letter and all it ment was that our telephone account and broadband account were being brought together to 'streamline' billing and there would be no change to our payments or service!!

I am so disapointed in TT, we had been one of the lucky ones, having a smooth installation of service, and reliable connection, but we are feeling very fustrated with the current situation, every person you call seems to say something completely different, and now its a lottery each time we try and use it, will we get on, and if we do, how long will we stay connected... anyone else had similar problems after 'exchange upgrade' ??

Exchange upgrade was fine here, didn't notice any disruption.

I have heard of people having problems when their modems were not equipped to fully handle the increase in speed, and I know the speedtouch modems have a patch you can install to stabilize and improve performance. This was put up by Thomson Speedtouch themselves.

  • My so called upgrade was in April. I lost all access for 6 weeks, when I eventually got a connection again it was 50% slower than before the upgrade and unstable. Thanks for the upgrade BT
