I am currently using tesco value washing powder and am wondering if there is anything cheaper that I can use? Doesn't necessarily have to be a washing powder... Maybe there are other products that wash just as well?
Thank you
Thank you

I have been using Asda value, 50p for an E3 size, and mixing it with washing soda. Also using Asda value conditioner 44p for a large concentrated size. Towels and stuff are really soft and lovely. I would recommend it. I think the conditioner works out as cheap as using vinegar etc.Tallyhoh! Stopped Smoking October 2000. Saved £29382.50 so far!0

As a PS if I run out of washing powder I just use a drop of washing up liquid or even shower gel in the machine. Not too much though!Tallyhoh! Stopped Smoking October 2000. Saved £29382.50 so far!0

Pardon my stupidity but what is washing soda?0

Hi pnq,
I use whatever brand of powder happens to be on offer mixed 50/50 with soda crystals and I get better results than using washing powder alone. However, none of us have any allergies/problems with trying different brands.

I think that washing soda is the same as the soda crystals I mentioned in my post. I get mine in tesco, 56p for a 1kg bag.

I`ve used Tesco, Asda, Aldi own brands and they`re all very good, problem is though when i do use them after a few washes my machine starts to smell and i`ve found the best way is to use Persil on a really hot wash.It gets rid of the smell.0

Just a hot wash should shift the smell, usually comes from washing at lower temperatures so I read on a website about washers.
I use a tablespoon of washing powder and same of soda crystals in my machine, occasionally double it when seriously mucky like quadbike clothes etc, not failed me yet even with two mucky boys. I wash at 30.
I do a hot wash whenever I need the cloths washing usually, keeps it 'gunk' free. One day I might be more organised...........

I use what ever is on special offer, I add washing soda too & never use fabric condition as we like our towels stiff, lol.

I use persil, but I do buy the professional grade as we are lucky to have a farmers store near us, I also buy pro grade comfort (£4.11 for 5 litres concentrate lasts about 3 months). The washing powder lasts us about 6-7 months (family of 6) and I use soda crystals with the powder on really grubby stuff. The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 10
