I would not recommend wireless CCTV. .

Why? Do you use your tablet/mobile/laptop/tv for internet banking via wireless? There are no more security issues using CCTV than using the above for banking. If you are putting a camera outside and do not have the skills or tools to be able to cable cat5 a wireless ip camera will do the job as all it needs is an electrical plug. Depends on the use obviously, but people wanting to have a quick and cheap camera to pc/sd card setup shouldn't bother with an all singing and dancing cctv system for £200+ as they can use an IP camera for less than half the cost.

Look at Hikvision 3MP cameras on aliexpress. Make sure it says english firmware. Aim for around ~$100-120. The turrent and dome cameras get a good writeup. For indoor use, look at the cube cameras.

I just got a foscam C1 (~£50 foscamuk) which records to SD card, remote access (phone/tablet/laptop), uses wifi, movement sensor so no more false alams. Only thing is, it's indoor. Think the HIK cube cam would have been a better buy though, too late now.
