Should I use a PPI Company? (Help)

Hi Guy's

Have been advised to head over to here and get some advise/help!!

I had a small loan with Lloyds bank many years ago, maybe around 15-17 years ago!! I know I had PPI on it, because when I went to make a claim (after i lost my job) they told me I could not claim as I was working for an agency at the time, I argued my case at the bank as the man who sold me the PPI knew I was on agency!!

I have no account numbers for the loan, also I lived in a couple of places in that time period and I can not for the life of me remember which address I was living at!

1. is it worth claiming because of the time laps?
2. should I use a company to make the claim, I really am lost when it comes to these kind of things!!

Many thanks
Daniel

There are no current time limits on complaints with Lloyds.

A claims company just sends the form you complete to the same address you would use if you were to post it yourself. Would you get lost finding a post box? ;)

    Thanks for the reply :)

lol... I can find the post box :) My concern was more to do with not having the account numbers, not 100% sure of the address, just thought a company would be better informed to deal with it as they do 100's of them and know the process inside out!

I wouldn't want to mess it up!

    The process is simple.
Find out the numbers either with a SAR, your records, or phoning and asking [if the account was still open], fill in the questionnaire honestly, send it off.

Thanks, I have downloaded the "closed" account document, I will get it filled in, best I can and get it sent off!

If the loan was that long ago there is also a good chance it was single premium which would be a strong additional complaint reason. Be careful over wording the "agency work" complaint reason as you don't want them trying to time bar the complaint on the basis that you should reasonably have known you had reason to complain at the time your "redundancy claim" was turned down.

This is exactly what I was going to say. Whilst Dunstonh is correct that there is no absolute time limit, they can timebar your complaint if it is over a) six years from the date of the sale; and b) three years from the date you knew, or should have known, you had grounds for complaint. If you mention the rejected claim thing then you are open to being timebarred on this basis.

Sending the letter first thing tomorrow, (Friday) just wondering if I should include a £10 cheque or not, as it states on the FAQ's that....
This can cost £10 so you could include a £10 cheque (not cash).

Should I send it with this letter or wait to see if they request it?

    Thanks

Just another thought, as I don't know my account number(s) should I include possible address at the time of the loan so they have something to search against!
