If they come to look make sure the shed is locked and and don't say otherwise unless asked the question.........

    That would be fraud.

    No it isn't.
Locking a shed is perfectly normal.
Not speaking until spoken to is not fraud either.

The policy only states that it has to be locked to something secure (with a lock weighing more that the bike) if it is away from home, there is no such stipulation what at home. I have already spoken to the insurance people and they have not indicated they wont pay out, but that I think will come down to the loss adjuster...
Ultimately it will come down to the terms of your policy. If it doesn't require you to lock your bike up at home then the loss adjuster can't retrospectively invent such a term. That said you might also want to check the general terms and conditions to see if there are any limits or conditions on theft from outbuildings which would apply.

Just come off the phone from being grilled about the details of the theft and the items taken. No lies told, and the outcome is that they will replace the bike.

Only snag is that they only use Wheelies to supply the replacement, and as they don't supply Trek bikes so I can't get a direct like for like replacement but can get something similar from Bianchi, Scott, Felt or Giant.

I was also thinking of getting a Moulton but they don't do those either.

hmm..........what does it say in your policy.
If you're entitled to "like for like" replacement and then I wouldn't accept what they are offering.

Well if Wheelies don't supply your make of bike then they'll have to reimburse you to buy it somewhere else won't they?

To be honest, it may be a good thing as I'm not so keen on the 2015 version (the stolen one was the 2013 model), and I am currently looking at bikes fitted with disks and fatter tires that would allow a bit of track as well as road riding. The Specialized Diverge looks pretty interesting at the moment. Another option is to get an ebike for my wife, especially as she thinks I have too many already.
