I bought a fridge/freezer from Comet on my debit card in April 2006 and it came with a years guarentee in April this year.
Soon after I got the fridge i noticed that it was not getting as cold as it should so i turned the temperature down (made colder). It didnt make much difference so I called Comet just before the guarentee ran out and explained to them what happened, she said thats how it should be. I explained to her that it's not freezing the stuff inside properly and she maintained the fridge is working fine and refused to send someone out to look at it. Now the fridge that i've had for just over a year is not freezing anything!
Please all money savers HELP! What can I do? Where do I go from here? Any help will be most appreciated.

It will get warmer if you turn the temperature up!0

Fridges don't freeze things, freezers do...a fridge would be unlikely to go down to the temperature required to freeze things.
Ref "turning the temperature up" I *think* OP may mean turning the dial up, most fridges have a 0 to 5/6/7 dial and the higher you turn it, the colder it is meant to get.0 -
Mine is set on 30

LOL!! im such an idoit!!!
It's a fridge freezer and I made it cooler!!!! Help pls help!!!!0 -
I would contact their customer services and state that although you realise the guarentee has run out you did explain the problem to a member of staff while the guarentee was still valid. Explain that on reflection you reaalise it was unrealistic to expect that the staff member could have possibly known your fridge freezer was working properly without examining it and ask that they take this into consideration when they consider repairing your fridge freezer outside of its normal guarentee period. Worth a shot ... otherwise you will have to learn from experience and learn to be more assertive !!!I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes0

Welcome to MSE cedejah
Your problem is not that clear, as others have stated. You say that you got the guarantee in April of this year, and that you are trying to freeze things in the fridge. You can edit you post, so that it makes more sense.
You have posted your query in the credit card section, you may get more information from the (consumer) vent board.

In your position I would go into the store and tell them that you want the appliance fixed as it is a problem that you've had for a while, and you did notify them months ago.
They may try the old line "It's out of guarantee", this is irrelevant as under the sale of goods act, the appliance is supposed to last a reasonable amount of time (this can be up to 6 years).Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.0 -

Get yourself a thermometer and check the temperatures in various parts of the fridge/freezer:
The fridge section should be between +2 and +5 degrees Centigrade, the freezer section -18 degree.

Search me, why you did not monitor your fridge straight away, as soon as you suspected a poor performance.0 -

I really dont get it. You say you noticed 'soon after you got it' (I would imagine you would spot this sort of thing pretty quick, ie within a month) that it wasn't working properly, so you called to ask for it to be fixed before the guarantee ran out (which was before April 07), yet it is now well into August, four and a half months later, 17 months after you bought it, before you're trying to do something about it? For simplicities sake, heres a timeline.
April 06 - Bought Fridge Freezer
April/May 06 - Noticed it wasn't freezing things properly
March/April 07 - Decided to do something about it not freezing properly and called Comet to be rejected
August 07 - Looked for help elsewhere
Sorry but that sounds either extremely slack or very fishy.
You should note that should you fail to notify the supplier of a fault despite you knowing about it, it is considered that you have 'accepted' the fault and can not go back at a later date to ask them to fix/replace it based on that fault.0
