from ebay site.....
At eBay, our mission is to provide a global online marketplace where practically anyone can trade practically anything, enabling economic opportunity around the world.
While eBay has created a unique online trading platform, it is our community of users who build this very dynamic and robust trading environment. This community of users is guided by five fundamental values when buying or selling on eBay.
As part of our mission, we are committed to help protecting the intellectual property rights of rights owners and to providing our users with a safe and enjoyable place to trade.
For this reason, eBay has created the Verified Rights Owner (VeRO) Programme so rights owners can report listings that infringe their rights. Any person or company who holds intellectual property rights (such as a copyright, trademark or patent) which may be infringed by listings or items sold on eBay is encouraged to participate in the VeRO Programme.
In addition, we believe that by providing information and guidelines to our community of users, everyone can contribute to help building a safe and reliable marketplace where people can find success

has anyone anymore information on vero ie do companies register with ebay to go on the programme ....
ebay is full of !!!!!! and ipod scams and yet you get hassle for trainers and bra's
ebay is very poor0 -
just had a thought .... do these companies register with vero so as to stop ebayers copying their adverts or discriptions
i seem to remember that my wife copied and pasted a para of description from the manufacturers site .
still dont see the problem .... they are just trying to eradicate competition as far as im concerned0 -
ah! that might be it.....
In my auction description I included a piece of text to decribe the mosturiser and how it works. I never even thought that it would be wrong to do this, I just assumed the more information the buyer has, the better.
Maybe this is the copyright issue? So why didn;t they B***dy well tell me! I thought it was the picture...........0 -
Copying and pasting from the manufaturers website for personal gain and profit would probably amount as a breach of copyright."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0

redridinghood wrote:Over the past few weeks I have had many listings removed by the VERO programme.
I have had 3 problems with sellers in the last month and no satisfactory help in dealing with them.
what was the item you are selling
what was the description
how many items do you sell normally (100's a month, a couple a week?)
as you've not provided any information its difficult to give any advice,
if you're selling only a few items a week, 3 'problem' buyers would mean a high percentage of your customers are not happy for whatever reason, you do the math
if you're selling 100's of items then statistically speaking you're likley to have had a few bum customers
so again I ask
post an item description (as was on ebay)
show us the item
tell us what problems you had with customers
i'm not being rude at all, just trying to get the whole storymoney saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

Two thoughts here. Firstly what others have already said about the VERO programme is spot on, if a company own the right to sell their own item a person cannot resell that item without a license. Using stock pictures of cut and paste text just compounded the problem.
The best example of this recently was the company 'Tffany'. They do not license anyone else to sell their items so they had every 'Tiffany' item removed form ebay under the VERO programme on the basis that either the item was fake, or that the seller was trading in Tiffany without permission.
Every now and then Disney and Warner Brothers do the same.
Getting VERO warnings and re listing would be an automatic suspension.
As for the trainers..this is an obvious one. Ebay forbid the selling of used clothes (mainly aimed at the fetish market). A lot of seller still try and list and get their listings pulled and then their account suspended. A way round this is to list the auction with a 'nudge nudge wink wink' approach and trainers would therefore be listed as 'not smelly' or 'obviously clean to ebay standards'. This is a way of indicating to people that you know, that they know what you mean. Unfortunately you did this unintentionally, but be thankful you didn't get a winner on this auction who thought you were offering something that you weren't!
Finally, remember that ebay only pull listings when someone complains, they don't monitor the auctions themselves.
Hopefully ebay will consider reinstating you, it might take a few weeks though. Meanwhile under no circumstances even consider operating under a different iD, if you are caught your account would be lost for good.
