Reasonable cost for decorating?

wow, good luck... i know for my job a 5L tin of F&B floor paint costs £100 alone. But i've heard it's very hardwearing so we decided to splash out.0

A good decorator could do the OP's place in a day, £90 would be a bargain.Yes, he's suggested 2–3 days... we've now agreed on £300 for the floor and £400 for the walls, ceiling and woodwork.
Sound ok?
wow this has to be the most uneducated reply to a post I have read on here.
I'm not going to say a word. Oh, go on then. Why the purile over-reaction?“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”

Being in a trade I can tell you there are paints that cost 4-5x less and are as good/better than F&B
They have done their marketing well..but thats about it.0 -

starting a reply with What are you going on about? and adding
.You're being silly ,
Fact is £80-£90 is near enough min wage for a self employed person, you turning this person into a dodgy non tax payer that only has petrol as an expense and adds that onto the price of materials to justify your argument was just daft.
Any full time decorator would charge much much more than your quote of £80-£90 and wouldn't just overcharge for a pot of paint, to get their expenses.
My 1 day estimate for the work was based on the fact the ok stated it was a freshly plastered house, I will admit 1 day is pushing it, ut paint can take just 2hours to dry so it is possible, even at 2 days that's just £180, which is still much less than the OP was quoted for just 1 room, so not sure where you get your figures from.0 -

Yes and i've heard F&B paints are a nightmare to use on walls and in fact the samples we tried looked awful (probably need a good decorator to do them justice). That's why we've opted for Dulux on walls, ceilings and woodwork.
However i've been recommended by quite a few different decorators and others that F&B 'floor paint' is the best product out there for floors.
If it turns out not to be the case, well i'll know better next time
