What a shame that just a few sneaky people make things so difficult.

In the future we should be able to genetically test for a predisposition to this type of behaviour and put them all on a higher tax rate to pay for it.

Lol i was going to say in my initial post that he would ask for a partial refund!

I would politely reply that you are sorry he is not happy with the phone, that it was definitely in excellent condition when you send it, and can he please send it back to you, so you can refund him once you have verified the serial number and security markings.

I bet he then decides to keep it!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • Just an update. We were up to where he was gonna post it back but was out of the country and couldn't post it till this week. I then got another email yesterday saying he was still out of the country and wouldn't be able to post it till after another month. Getting quite ridiculous now. I hate the fact I have to just wait round keeping him sweet till he posts it back.

Isn't there something in the eBay Returns process that says the buyer has to post back a return to the seller within a certain length of time? (Can't find the link right now)
  • Really? That would be perfect. I need to have a bit Google I think coz I'm letting him call all the shots at the Mo.

What state is the case at?

Managed returns give the buyer 14 working days from when the case was opened or when the seller accepted the return. However, it isn't unknown for the case to be extended.

Right, well basically Ebay hasn't been in touch with me again since they first intervened to see I had to respond to him by 15th June.
I responded early am June 16th.
He asked what I could do for him and I said, return it, il check Imei number corresponds and will refund in full.
He then asked for partial refund instead.
I asked for him to return and I would refund full amount.
He was meant to return phone this week but has now said it will be another month till he's back in country and will return it then.
I've just looked at the case and Ebay have said for a refund he has to return it by July 9th.
I'm trying to wing it till then till its too late for him to post back.
    What do you think?
The phone sold on May 24th I think he received it a couple of days later.

Didn't some Samsung batteries have issues with swelling? If so it sounds like he's playing on a known issue to try and get you to agree to the partial. Make sure you get the batteries back when he returns although I would imagine he will have kept your good ones and send back his own 'puffy' faulty one, unfortunately with nothing you can do about it :(
I would be very careful about asking for an allegedly faulty battery to be returned, because batteries with known faults are (understandably) on Royal Mail's prohibited items list. If you sent two good batteries and one is allegedly "puffy", I don't think it's likely you'll get two good batteries back, and if the buyer sends back his old faulty battery in place of yours there may be a risk of leakage and further damage to the phone.

Hope you arent as unlucky as me when I sold a samsung s4 on ebay a while back...

He said it wasnt powering up so demanded a refund..ok so send it back then and ill refund you even though it was almost new and powered up when i put it in box

He then sent me back a box full of pieces of heavy card with a picture of a phone on one of the bits ..

As I signed for "the package" as far as ebay were concerned I had the phone returned..I had hell of a job getting the money back from pay pal had to report him to action fraud and i blocked the imei with my phone company..

Lesson learned as far as im concerned my days of selling on ebay were at an end..

If you get a wrong un as a buyer you are stuffed
  • Oh my goodness that's terrible!
I don't know how some people sleep at night.
I've sold loads of phones and items over the years and this is the first trouble I've had. I think it's def on the increase now.

    (P's I'm a Smudger too)
