Opodo extra charge

Opodo are quoting the right price based on a Euro return flight. Ryanair are choosing to ignore this.
They're not ignoring anything, they're charging whatever they tell the Opodo agent booking your Ryanair flight for you they are charging. Ryanair hasn't a clue you're not the person booking or what Opodo has told you the price is. If the agent forgets to opt out of Ryanair's currency conversion then that's Opodo's fault, not Ryanair's.0 -

If it were that simple why didn't the Ryanair agent I spent 10 minutes on the phone with state that Opodo had quoted the wrong price? He spent 10 minutes telling me that ALL Ryanair flights were charged in Euros and converted to Sterling. When I told him this wasn't true he said I'd have to write to Customer Services for a refund. I wrote to Customer Services and got back an email stating:
"Passengers who pay for their flights with a credit card billed in a currency other than the currency of the country from which the flight departs will be charged in the currency of issue of the credit card, inclusive of a ‘foreign user’ charge."
This again is deliberately misleading. By law they have to offer an opt-out. So basically at no point has Ryanair stated that I need to go back to Opodo. The agent played dumb and so has Customer Services. They know quite clearly why there's a discrepancy but they just don't want to do anything about it. Luckily the banks will.
At the end of the day Dynamic Currency Conversion is a legalised scam. It's a way Ryanair, and other companies like them, can scam an extra £6 to £7 per £100 of flight. Regardless of where the error was - Opodo Agent or Ryanair, as soon as it's flagged, any decent company would be admitting to it and helping the customer get their money bank - either directly or via the third party... Not wasting everybody's time by making out it's the norm for quoted and actual price to be different due to a foreign currency charge.
This is what the Guardian had to say about DCC: theguardian.com/money/2010/feb/15/ryanair-costs-currency-conversion

The agent might not even know what Opodo is! From his perspective you booked a flight with your card and probably paid exactly the price that was quoted to you (i.e. the Opodo agent). You might not like Ryanair's conversion policy but it doesn't change the fact that what happened to you was Opodo's fault, not Ryanair's. I have no idea why you feel Ryanair should sort out the mess you're in because you decided to hand over money to a dodgy 3rd party site.0 -
hi all
avoid opodo at all costs
this happened to me today with opodo and I feel sick, as I have been charged £900 extra on a £1500 flight, I rang and complained and they said email a complaint. I have done this. My bank said they could not cancel the charge. the charge changed as I clicked the pay button. I paid by debit card too. can someone help?0 -

Can you breakdown the price?
This seems a very high difference. Credit card fees and an Opodo service fee would not come to anything like and extra £900.0 -
I checked E Dreams today. Initially they were 50p cheaper than Easyjet.
Once payment method was selected, the price changed which includes a £10+ pp service charge on top of the card fees.
It is all quite clear on the payment page , before you buy though.
Easyjet £209 ish, E Dreams £231 ish.
They also offer various insurance products which would bump it up further.0 -
Booked two flights from Gran Canaria to Heathrow on BA through Opodo, including two bags in the hold. However when I logged on to my booking with BA they had no knowledge of the hold luggage. Opodo told me to pay the £80 and send them the receipt - they acknowledged it was their mistake. But this has been followed by a series of time wasting e mails saying "refund in a few days", "refund in process", "forwarded to the necessary department" and each time they tell me to quote the file number making it look as if my claim is being taken seriously.
I sent them a mail saying they should quote "BREACH OF CONTRACT" in the title of any future e mails and the fools have done that. I am now applying for a partial VISA chargeback from my bank. I will never deal with this company again. They are a disgrace.0 -
In economy with BA you have the choice of booking a HBO fare (no hold baggage allowance) or a standard economy ticket that includes 23kg hold baggage
If you have a bag to check in, it is cheaper to pay for the ticket that includes the baggage as this is only €26 more expensive than the HBO fare and works out cheaper than paying the €55 (£40) per bag separately
I am assuming Opodo by default show the HBO fare so they come out cheaper in the comparisons which mean you will pay more than buying the bag-included fare direct from the airline
- I would expect if you had a HBO fare, you would be directed to the BA site to add and pay for the additional baggage
Is the baggage fee shown on your breakdown from Opodo?0 -
Here is the receipt from Opodo
Outbound: 24 October 2015, 0 stop(s)
Departing:
16:10 Sat, Las Palmas (LPA), Las Palmas , Spain
Arriving:
20:35 Sat , Terminal: 5 , London Heathrow Apt (LHR), London , United Kingdom
British Airways (BA 489) Economy
Return Baggage: 2 baggage/s added
They admit it was their fault but seem to have extreme difficulty in refunding for the two bags added that they did not actually add to the booking.0
