Will there be music, we only had a handful of kids but they were first on the dancefloor and had to be dragged off when it was bedtime, we had brought some drawing stuff and books which they did enjoy but once the disco started they were off dancing.
    Booo!!!

Bubbles - definitely not unless you want to have lots of unhappy people with soapy round stains on their best new outfits.

Thanks. It's only really background music. It's a very informal party in a cafe rather than a sit down meal and disco. If it is a nice day I hope that they can run around outside but it's more of a yard than a garden so want some kind of outdoor entertainment and there's every chance it will rain (September!) so wanted to have something which can be done in doors too. Plus I thought it would be exciting for a little person being dragged along to a grown up party to have a little present for them even if it was just a jigsaw or sticker book from the poundshop.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, as long as there are at least a few of them they can pretty much entertain themselves. But if there is cake / sweets, fizzy juice and music, they'll be as happy as pigs in muck!
  • I'd have to agree with the above! If you get them all together I'm sure they can all keep each other entertained, all you'd need to provide is some shared activities such as coloring books and bubbles.

I don't have my own kids, but I love talking to them and entertaining them at parties, so hopefully there's someone like me there :p

I'd make sure their parents knew to bring something to keep their lot happy. In my case, I'd have made sure the older two brought a book to read, you'd not have heard a peep out of them. Youngest was a different matter, so I'd have thought about what he'd enjoy doing with other children he might know there.

Best bit of my dad's funeral for the children was the snowball fight afterwards, but you can't pre-plan that kind of thing, nor is it likely to be possible in September ...

    I've been Money Tipped!
Colouring pencils with paper to draw pictures for everyone there. Drawing round hands in different colours all on one piece of paper to record they were there on the same date and how 'little' they are, so that in five or ten years time its a chuckle, and in twenty years time is a smile, if you do not often have whole family get togethers.

A couple of nice, short books, with older children being bribed to read to younger groups when they get a bit OTT. :).

I wouldn't want anyone to get hurt.

It's lovely that you're thinking of the children, but really their parents should do that.

An activities basket is a nice touch though, filled with some colouring supplies, small packets of plasticine, loom bands (with clothes pegs or the board) and a couple of card/games. I wouldn't supply anything 'energetic' or that requires parents to move away from the party (eg bouncy castle.)
