Yep me as well as the old wanna quote thread went very well.IMHO much better than the new beat the quote thread.

Please bring this back. It was a very useful benchmark when looking to sort out holidays . I cant really get to grips with this new system.

Agreed. I often used to look on there to see what others had managed to find. It was very useful.
  • Hi....

I agree with sava/sloppy/annie (don't fall off your chair!)....I've PM'D some people & not even had an answer!

I think the problem lies with the mentality of the 'Internet Generation' & to a lesser degree with the attitide of your average MSE poster. This is not meant to be a slur on MSE posters but the very nature of the board/forums are for people to use any means possible to save money...& forgive me if this sounds 'harsh' but as the web is not 'personal' ie no rapport built with people by actually TALKING on that old fashioned thing-the phone (!) & many MSE posters simply forget manners &/or read the start of the thread.

How many MSE posters have bothered to say they've found something-as Martin has asked? What agents will bother with quoting someone who posted 2 days ago-odds are they've found something-why waste time??

I replied by PM to someone who wants to book by noon today-I PM'D yesterday 20 mins after they posted. I don't know if the poster only has intermittent web access but NOTHING back. Do these posters check their mail in the morning to see if anyone has offered to help? You would think so-if you've specifically asked for help???I'm sorry if this sounds harsh-but 85% of people who post on this thread saying they are DEFINATE about booking & want to book NOW are complete & utter time wasters. Because of this MSE forum posters have a crap reputation with the trade-not just me/my collegues but I've had PM'S from many people in the trade saying that MSE'RS are time wasters. And so far I'm afraid that this rings true.

Go on MSE'RS....prove me/the travel trade wrong. Reply to the PM'S we send. Amend your original post to say you've booked. Be serious about wanting to book NOW & not muck us about.

If you take this seriously then so will the Trade.

If this thread is used properly it will work. So far it has not. I'm not 100% that the 'bring back the want a quote on something specific' is a good idea as many quotes are not ATOL protected (absolutely no disrespect to the people that post them-but it opems MSE up to a whole lot of legal trouble if the holiday goes belly up in my opinion) BUT based on the way MSE posters are, quite frankly, in most cases, p*****g people around on the travel Agents thread it may have to return.

I now expect millions of posts defending MSE'RS & saying that the Travel Industry are 'spawns of Satan'.....etc...!!!

Travelman I feel almost hounared that you agree!!:j

The old thread did work well, and woould do again. If it aint broke dont fix it should the mantra for this site.

If enough people back the 'can we have it back suggestion' in the questions forum.....(thanks for the link into this thread savapenny) then they will get rid of the imposter thread and we can start one up again they will work like the last one did.

    Keep the support coming:beer:
