New build - Developer has installed next doors water butt using my garage roof!

If, as you say, it doesn't bother you, OP, why then does it bother you?
I'm a man of principles. It just doesn't seem right (any still doesn't) to me, so was seeking other people's thoughts /opinions.
The water butt can stay, I cannot see it, so I do not care. Only thing I am wary about is potential future problems it may cause. That is all.0 -
I will mention the the practicalities because I have worked on countless new homes in situations such as this.
The designer will be a CAD technician of debatable ability who will not have given much, if any, thought on who owns what boundary nor where a drain is located.
The drain laying will have been sub contracted to the lowest price groundworker who will be hell bent on doing a quick expedient job.
The groundworkers men will not have been issued with up to date drawings, indeed they will probably have been issued with no drawings at all. Regardless, they have no interest in boundary lines nor plot ownership.
The Site Manager will have no interest in anything other than progress and his bonus for production.
The end result is that drains go in the wrong places.
The solution is to lay a new drain, but this will have repercussions for the neighbour with the water butt. OP is entitled to pursue this under NHBC terms because the neighbours issues are between them and the developer.
Expect the developer to be reluctant to do anything because all remedial works are eating into profits.0 -

Even if it isn't strictly right, surely neighbourly relations are worth a lot more than where a drainpipe goes?0
