My comment was in response to you saying that you have no debt, even though you still owe your mum money, and wasn't about whether you'd missed any payments or not.

Since you ask, I always pay my bills on time too, including a mortgage. And I paid cash for my car.

I'm considering paying the BP so Yes, i may have something to show for it!

Make your mind up! You just said you're giving it back.

Whatever you decide make sure you're aware of the implications and costs.

No, wrong again! I'm giving the car back. It's PCP so yes, no bills or debts.

No bills or debts. And no car either?

Serious questions trying to understand what you are thinking of doing.

In a Tactless 'straight up' way a lot of this discussion makes sense i.e. perhaps a new car on credit might not be ideal (depending on your finances), or perhaps your work means you need a new reliable car and this is the only way it becomes affordable with all of the associated costs?

You know your finances, budgets and limitations, no-one else here does but at least your thinking about it and engaging your brain which loads of people don't do! I imagine some frustration from the others may be because this is an often tread thread path and sometimes down the line people have made wrong decisions and fed back... (that said I've not seen many posts where people write to say how good/useful taking credit has been so it is one sided)

As an alternative suggestion have you considered using the extra money from selling your current car and some of your savings to buy a less expensive but reliable used car? Or keeping the current? You'd have less depreciation, less debt (even if you borrowed - providing you got credit) and you would own the car outright so could get some more money back selling later?

There are loads of options, just take your time deciding! Good Luck!
