Can you view previous surveys on a house?

Options
Hello,
I am looking at a house that's been on the market for well over two years, and can't understand why it hasn't sold! Is there anyway that I can view surveys done on the house? I'm interested to know if some people have had offers accepted then realised the house has a fault when a survey has been carried out
Cheers

    Yes you can.

Provided the owners of the surveys agree to give them to you.

Well that's pretty obvious if I knew every person (if any) who had viewed and had survey done.

What I meant was, will the surveys be stored on computer? A website that will charge to see them

No, there's no way of doing that.
Have you used Property Bee to see whether the house has been marked SOLD STC at any point in the past two years?
If so you can ask the EA why it fell through, although whether they tell the truth or not you can't be sure.
Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.

You could always ask the selling agent if the previous purchasers had any reports carried out and if so, if they would be interested in selling them to you.

Er, NO!. People pay for a survey for themselves. If surveys were put on a public domain, there would be no reason for the next person to pay for a survey.

  • No, when you've paid for a survey the results are your property. You are even discouraged from sharing the copy with the EA or vendor!

If a sale fell through due to adverse survey then the EA is obliged to disclose what they know if asked.

Hi, I'm in similar situation. We have found a house and understand that a previous sale fell through because a home buyers survey was carried out and it picked up that there was no lintel above a patio door which was in a single story extension to the house. The Vendor has agreed that this will installed before a sale. From looking online I have seen that if anything is picked up previously the vendor or EA has to make you aware of this.

    Exactly.

You should ask the EA if any previous surveys have been carried out, and if so what was found.

Put this in writing to them.

If a previous sale did fall through, don't assume it was because of an adverse survey - it could have been adverse searches, pre-contract enquiries, title problems etc etc.

So don't restrict your questions to just previous surveys. Ask broader questions like "Have any previous sales fallen through, and if so, why?"
