United Dominions Trust Ltd PPI Claim

I would like to submit a PPI claim to United Dominions Trust Ltd for PPI I paid (unknowingly) on a loan I had in the early 1990's. However, I have been unable to find any current information on the company and have no idea if they still exist or merged with another company.

Has anyone successfully made a PPI claim on United Dominions Trust Ltd and, if so, how and to whom was the claim made ?

Thanks you in advance for any help and cooperation in this matter.

Way back when Lloyds merged with TSB, Lloyds Bowmaker was merged with TSB subsidiary UDT (United Dominion Trust).

    So try Lloyds or TSB.

Lloyds took on all liability for historic business leaving TSB clean.

  • Thank you for the prompt and informative replies Nearlyold and dunstonh.

    I'll give Lloyds a try.
  • I finally got around to calling Lloyds today with regard to my PPI claim on United Dominion Trust and was told that Lloyds had nothing to do with UDT and so I've hit a brick wall again ! I'm really not sure where to go next ?!

Sorry to hear that, I think you must have spoken to a numpty at a call centre.

The following is text taken from Lloyds response to a Parliamentary panel investigating miss selling and cross selling in 2012 2013

Written evidence from Lloyds Banking Group (SJ 004)
.........Companies which comprised the Asset Finance Division of LTSB have offered PPI in connection with the supply of credit since 1987.
In the 1980s, such PPI products were offered, alongside the supply of credit, by both the Lloyds Bank Group, through Lloyds Bowmaker, and the TSB Group, through United Dominions Trust. Following the creation of LTSB in 1998 the businesses of Lloyds Bowmaker and United Dominions Trust were combined into Lloyds UDT.
In 2000, LTSB acquired Chartered Trust, which was already a distributor of PPI. In 2001, the business of Chartered Trust was merged into the business of Lloyds UDT, and the enlarged business was rebadged under the "Black Horse" name, to form the Asset Finance Division of LTSB.
  • Once again, thank you very much for the information Nearlyold, I'll try them again.

Given that putting the words 'United Dominions Trust Ltd' into Google produces the Companies House record for this company, which still exists, I am inclined to believe that you have made no effort at all to seek current information on the company.:)
