Changed tap - now no hot water

The cold has not been turned off to the boiler. There are a number of taps under the boiler and the cold water feed to the boiler has a tap and the cold water feed form this to the hot water tapes has another as does the radiators. The radiator tap may have been turned to full and not the hot water. Read boiler instructions.Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0

I would expect to see an isolation valve on the cold water pipe into the boiler. When I had a combi boiler, that was a tap just below the boiler.
My guess is that it's either turned off, or stuck in the shut position.
The radiators will be run from a seperate closed loop system, not requiring cold water in. [Until it has to be repressurised]0 -
Hi Kim kim,
Hopefully the hot water problem has been fixed now?
Please could you let everyone know what the problem was.
Thanks.0 -

I'd still like to know how you can change a couple of tap tails and leave the hot side bone dry!!
did they cut out a pipe completely?!??

No idea, one would assume if you disconnect hot & cold, you would need to reconnect hot & cold...........
Bit puzzled about how upstairs was disconnected!0 -

I'm sorry but that nonsence, even if the taps were connected the wrong way round you would still have water coming out the hot taps elsewhere, someone is telling you porky'sI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -

It's not my house. That's what my daughter said the plumber who fixed it said. Maybe she simplified if for me or misunderstood.
But it wasn't the boiler & British Gas.
Before anyone says they should have used a plumber in the first place, they had one booked to do it, a well meaning family member turned up to do it & they didn't like to offend by refusing help!0 -
Glad they managed to get it sorted and it wasn't anything major. Thanks for coming back and letting us know too. Perhaps the pipes were connected in a way that the water wasn't able to flow properly. I know all about well meaning people plumbing as a favour...ours resulted in me getting a phone call 'how do you turn the house alarm off and where's the stopcock' !Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16
