Ah! Missed that. In that case thet fall into the other catagory:Their official website clearly states they buy at Below market valueThe business model means they have to offer below market value, I reckon that would fall into the 20% territory to make it worth their while.
In some cases . . . a quick sale at 20% below market value might be a good thing . . . !
However. Such companies are mostly run by total and utter scumbags.
They're not interested in a miserly 20% discount, they're in the market for a 40% - 80% mark up.
How they achieve this is by using a scumbag sales technique that is as old as the hills.
Because it's as old as the hills I don't feel the need to explain it, lets just say that fools and their money are soon parted and there is very little that the rest of us can do that will stop them !0 -
So let's summarise the discussion so far.
I think we all agree that it is unlikely that this is the best option for the OP to sell their property.
I think we all agree that it's possible that the company may employ some undesirable tactics.
However, we have people in this thread calling it a scam with nothing to back it up.
We have people in this thread claiming to have read reviews, and then being unable to provide them.
We have people in this thread stating, as a matter of fact, that they reduce their offer price last minute, which is nothing but speculation.
I think we can compare this, to some extent, to "webuyanycar". When you use this service, you know you are not getting the best price. You know they will try to reduce the price they initially offered. But it's not a scam.
There are some rare but legitimate scenarios where it might make sense to use such a company.0 -

I totally agree with your sentiments . . . However, such companies are usually geared towards ripping off the terminally stupid.
We employ people to protect the terminally stupid !
My anger is directed at those we employ, at great expense, yet they fail to do their jobs.0 -

No, but they're less likely to be dealing with sellers who are in a financially desperate position (and there are plenty of alternative car dealers if you want to shop around at short notice).
I agree though they are not necessarily a "scam" in the sense of doing anything which is unlawful.0 -

There are plenty of "we buy any house" companies, too. Nothing to stop you playing them against eachother.0 -
