  • In these days of social media I may well be able to find her but I'm unsure how she may react. I decided sometime ago that my push for contact was causing her a lot distress and let her have her wish to keep me out of her life. I always ensured I paid what was requested.

Don't really think you are in a position to judge my financial situation but when every penny counts any extra outgoings are going to be painful especially if that outgoing trebles. If your mortgage payments increased 3 fold would you not feel the pinch?

You can only contact her and try to come to an agreement. If you dont then you face possibly paying 20% on top of your assessment if direct pay fails.

Im not judging, its a hard world out there, but the fact is, kids cost money and if you like it not, your payments will go up as you have seen from the online calc.

Won't the CMS arrange the 'contact' as in give the parents the opportunity to come to a family arrangement?
This may draw one party to 'swallow pride' , however the 4% collection fee from a possible increase in contribution may still be more attractive to the recipient.

The CMS are not allowed to give out information without the permission of the other parent. No fees will be attracted in the first instance. Either of the parents can open a new case for a £20 fee and then the NRP pay direct to the PWC. However, if like the NRP above who already knows his payments are going to treble, does not pay then fees are attracted. 4% for the PWC deducted from assessment and 20% for the NRP on top of assessment.

Looks like they are cracking on with it then. Whats Phase 3?
I just found out my child is now claiming JSA (or something job center related) after finishing sixth form. Has been for a few weeks it seems so i guess i should be expecting a letter of some sort from these people pretty soon. Should that mean thats the end of it for me?
  • If they have finished non advanced (A'level standard) education then your liability will have finished yesterday.

MataNui If you do nothing and the PWC has not informed the CSA of the change in circumstance then you will be expected to continue to pay. Contact the CSA and let them know what you think is happening and ask them to do a Child Benefit check. If Child Benefit is no longer being paid then your liability will end. You are likely to only get it backdated to when you contacted the CSA to inform them, so don't delay if you believe you should no longer be paying.
  • Bear in mind too that PWC is legally obliged to tell CSA of this change.

I didn't get informed until December last year and am currently trying to recover the payments I made from September to December.
