I won't presume to know their true motives, even though you claim to.
NFH, don't bother trying to reason with MobileJunkie - whenever he's challenged on his incongruous points his posts usually descend into childish diatribe like this one.0 -
They did this so that consumers would see that O2 is fairer to its customers than the competition. Yes, this does result in more profit because it attracts customers.
A refresh contract is just a credit agreement (loan) against the phone. If you take one out you now have a "loan" on your credit file as well as a normal mobile contract.
Unlike a normal mobile contract, where the phone is "free" (for want of a better expression) the transfer of title only happens when the loan is paid off. Those customers who would usually sell the phone off before the end of the contract can't do it under this contract. They could of course use the O2 recycle.
I hardly see taking out a loan to buy a phone as ground breaking innovation and could easily have been done by the OP had they chosen toIt's not just about the money0 -

Thus speaks the guy who doesn't understand consumer law but spouts on it and is so good with English that he can't understand two simple and clear sentences.0 -

Your understanding of consumer law extends as far as knowing how to file cashback claims. A worthy achievement in life, no doubt.0 -
Tell that to the many people I've successfully sued.0

I complained and they refunded the extra month..disgusting how such a big firm can continue to try it on without any repercussions0

What "extra month"?!
"Trying on" what exactly?0
