Product for removing grease from kitchen cabinets

Morning all! Having kitchen ceiling plastered this week, so I have taken all the fitted cabinets off the wall. They are horrendously sticky with thick grease. I'm sure plenty of people have been here before - does anyone have a definitive grease-melting product? I was thinking oven cleaner, and honestly, it's going to have to be something as industrial as possible, I don't think the previous owner ever did it. Fumes and wet not a problem, they are all in the garden :-D Thanks!! Steve

Sugar soap and elbow grease is probably your best bet, I'd be reluctant to use oven cleaner if you want to keep the cabinets.

Oven cleaner (caustic soda) is basically the same as paint stripper.

So depending on how the cabinets are finished, you may end up damaging the finish. On the other hand, a quick wipe over with diluted oven cleaner, not letting it settle long enough to damage the finish, might be very effective.

    Look for HG Grease Away.
It works wonders on thick grease (unless you hate the smell of orange peel) ;)

My sister uses it at her work in a cafe.

Stanley knife blade scraper and strong washing up liquid mix
I do Contracts, all day every day.
  • I would try stardrops diluted with some hot water and a microfibre cloth.
  • No to oven cleaner but yes to sugar soap, or even http://www.toolstation.com/m/part.html?p=28838
  • Sugar soap is the first thing that came into my mind.

Be careful not to get them too wet. Too much water will cause swelling of the material.

Whatever cleaning solution you choose, use it sparingly.
