you just put your name into google and see what comes up depending on if your name is common or not you could also add "win" or "competition" to get less results..

i really like the google alerts function, you can find it here, there you can set up a search and whenever a new page is found by google including the search term you get an email.

Its more or less instant when you press the search button after putting your name in. To narrow the results put speech brackets either end i.e. "John Smith" and then it only brings back an exact match
