Ballpark Cost to buy & install multi- fuel stove

Hi,

I would like to get a woodburner or multi-fuel stove for my house, and would appreciate some very rough ideas about he likely cost (partly so I don't waste people's time by getting them out to quote too early, before I have saved up a reasonable amount!)

I have a 1930's ex council semi, so there is an existing chimney, which until last year housed an extremely elderly back-boiler, with an equally elderly gas fire in the fireplace.

I believe that the old flue or the boiler is still in place and I assume that this would need to be removed and the chimney would need to be lined.

Is £1,500 - £2,000 likely to be a realistic budget, do you think?

Prices vary a lot around the country - though this is probably the best time to be looking at having it done. In fairness though - I think you'll be lucky to get the whole job done for the money you quoted.

I did mine for just under 2k, Aga Little Wenlock, new flue, new chimney top, and a bit of tidying up around the hearth. Depends on anything else, but its a good ballpark

thanks. It's useful to have a vague idea of starting points - whether I should be thinking about saving £2-£3K or £5-£6!

I had a Burley Debdale installed

Fireplace opened up (new lintel), new fire boards put in, honed granite hearth, new flue and stove installed for £2600

Flue parts circa £600, install and safety sign off £650, + cost of stove + cost of any building work. If opening up an existing standard builders opening then we usually charge in the region of £1450 instead of £650 above but don't forget a new hearth will be needed. Cost of this depends on what its made from , slabs from a builder merchant you can get away with £50 up to £700 if a big granite hearth.

They are our usual charges, we are East Midlands based.
