Just want a moan really - Windows Live Mail

So, I don't think anyone will really be able to help with this. I know what I'm going to have to do to resolve it, but it's one of those times where if you don't laugh you'd cry so I thought I'd share.
I've used Windows Live Mail for sometime. It works well, it's simple, I like it.
Today, however, for reasons I can't quite work out, it has decided it will not display emails from my Yahoo account after May 2012. It downloads new emails briefly and then they disappear. It is a major nightmare when something like this happens because if I have to set it all up from scratch it will take years to download all the emails. I do have a cheat, where I've found that if you copy the Appdata folder from another PC it copies across all the account settings and emails on to the new install. Which is handy. It's still a pain though.
So, having had a look around, tried restarting the computer, established that these missing emails were not actually on the computer any more at all the next logical thing is a simple repair install of Window Live Essentials, right?
Well no because apparently
"There is a problem with one or more of your windows live programs ( No s**t). To fix it try uninstalling all of your Windows Live programmes..."
So I guess that's what I'm off to do...

Assuming you can access your Yahoo mail via web and its all there then you're just complaining that WLM has messed up and needs to be reinstalled.
If you configure your Yahoo mail in WLM as IMAP then the mail will always stay with Yahoo.
If you configure your Yahoo mail in WLM as POP then some may end up on your computer and some may stay with Yahoo.
If you really want it ALL on your computer (as a backup) then I recommend the free MailStore

I have a BT Yahoo account and lots of my emails have disappeared from the IMAP sync'd clients (my phone and also my computer running Outlook) in the last 24 hours. The emails are still there in webmail.
I suspect the original problem is with Yahoo, not Live mail.0 -

Actually, they are all downloaded with IMAP, I can access them all offline.
Interesting to think it might be a Yahoo issue, it wouldn't be the first time odd things seem to have happened.
What I do know is I have not managed to fix it, and not through lack of trying. I am beginning to get very annoyed about the whole thing.0 -
It seems, even setting the account up from scratch again it wants to download emails in blocks of 200... starting with the oldest.
Me and the computer have really fallen out over this.0 -

I'm still of the view that it's Yahoo that you need to blame rather than your computer!0 -
BT Mail sync issues (may be related)

Well, I'm back to where I started again this morning, growing very weary of the whole thing. I'm pleased the messages are all still on the server, but the rest of it is just crazy really.
Wondering more and more why I continue to use Yahoo, they always seem to have problems... OK I know, it's because I'm too lazy to switch everything over.
Considering just having Yahoo forward everything to my GMX account, which I have to say is absolutely brilliant.0 -
I had a call from a friend who said they could only access the 200 oldest emails in their folders with WLM. Appears to be a BT/Yahoo/Microsoft client/IMAP issue

Yeah, it's not just me, yesterday it managed to keep some new emails for most of the day and I got hopeful. But I'm back to stage one today.
The fact it's still going on is a bit beyond a joke to be honest and I've seen nothing official from Yahoo admitting to the problem or when it will be fixed.
Do I have the energy to change everything over to another provider? It's seeming more and more likely.0 -
Use webmail until its fixed. If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0
