both my kids hidl charging ports have failed too.. both out of warranty so had to replace them myself from part bought on ebay for about £18..
but there are millions of charge ports for sale on ebay, it must be a common problem...

Very common, but there is a new better universal connection on its way

Its a common problem with most brands of tablets and not just HUDL's used by kids. They forget to charge them or want to keep playing when flat so they use them with charge cable still in.

The cable has a huge amount of leverage compared to the tiny fixing points on the usb socket to the board, the usb cables are not that long so often get pulled putting too much strain on it.

I learnt this early on over many tablets. A tablet that is always just plugged in carefully with slack in the lead and not disturbed, then only used unplugged on battery will usually last years.
