Vent -fewer small supermarket trolleys

Is it just me or have I noticed supermarkets are not having as many small trolleys as they used to?
I live alone and I find the big trolleys are too big for me. As its a form of budget control. Plus those people that have back problems and find it difficult or impossible to reach the bottom.
Asda and even more so, Aldi are the main culprits. Aldi had none outside the store and counted just 5 or 6 throughout the store.
Does anyone know why this is the case?

Like most {if not all} supermarkets they try to get you to buy more things than you want. First with the way stock is laid out then looking at it from their point of view by having bigger trollies people seem to look and think " not much in there" and buy more.
I always have a list and stick to it, I ignore the BOGOF's and the flash signs that tempt people to spend far more than they want or need to. Try {although I will not say it will work} asking the store manager if there is any chance of getting a few more trollies in the smaller size or perhaps an email to the head office.0 -

Yea, but budget control is good for you and bad for the supermarket.
They are crafty !!!!!!s. Just be thankful that they provide you with trolleys in the first place though!0 -
I haven't found this with Morrison's. There are more 'mini' trolleys than full size ones. Sainsbury's seem to be the same number, Asda also has a fairly equal mix. Can't talk about Tescos as I don't shop there.0

I've never seen the problem at my local Sainsbury's or Tesco, where they have vast quantities of trollies of different sizes.
The local Lidl only does big trollies - so I use a basket instead. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
Have Aldi always had more than 5 or 6 ? You do find some customers will take the trolley home and then just don't bother taking it back.0

not a bad price in lidl , only a £1 , with no time limit on returns
Asda is about 5 miles from my house , and I find any trolley awkward on the bus0
