Money taken from my account.

In October 2014, I bought a few items from "Fabletics" this registered me as a VIP. Each month since I have had £44.00 deducted from my credit card which I have only realised this month - June 2015. It amounts to a total of £308.00.

I am sent an email each month that lets me "skip the month" between 1st and 5th of the month meaning that payment wouldn't be lifted. However as I wasn't interested in buying anything I didn't even open the emails and simply deleted them.

Ideally I would like this money refunded to my credit card, how do I go about doing this?

Thanks, in advance, for any help. :-)

Why do you think you are entitled to a refund? You signed up to this service, and you were in receipt of emails each month that would have allowed you to prevent the £44.00 monthly charge being taken from your account but you didn't even read those emails.

Have you cancelled now? - then you do not need to worry about skipping
Brief look seems to be that you now have £308 credit to spend with them
  • I was not aware that I was signing up to the service nor was I aware that I would be charged £44.00 monthly. I do not think I'm "entitled" to a refund, but I would like my money back.

Yes you are right I have £308.00 built up to spend with them but I don't want anything.

I'm asking if its possible to get the money back, how do I go about doing that....

    Thank-you.

I'd guess contacting the merchant and saying "I'd like to close my account, can you refund my credit balance please?" would be a decent first punt.

This is how they make their money so I suspect they won't respond positively to requests for refunds. A quick search shows that loads of people get caught out by this, and also shows that there's a box that needs to be unticked to avoid becoming a 'VIP member'.

I don't think you're going to get your money back.:(

The sites makes it pretty clear on the ordering page that you are getting a 'VIP' discount and signing up to pay £44 per month into the account. The terms and conditions are also clear.

You need to contact Fabletics and see if they will refund you out of goodwill.

    Criminals don't usually display goodwill.

This type of organisation thrives on deceit and obfuscation.

Good luck with your attempts to get back the proceeds of crime, but I fear you'll be unsuccessful.

You have only just realised that £44 a month has been taken from your credit card account since last October, how often do you check your statements and if you do where did you think £44 was going?

Buy something that may hold value and stick it on eBay. Or prepare all future birthday Christmas gifts to be from there!

Most importantly take it as a lesson learnt
  • Thank-you everyone for your input....I suppose the only thing I can do is try..the worst it will be is exactly were I am right now. Thanks again.
