When I get these calls I give them my best Liam nesson impression and tell them about my unique set of skills about finding them and killing them in the most descriptive and horrible ways imaginable including all their family members and they never call back.
I've also informed them they have rang UK military command in Northolt and that to expect a visit from mi6 to investigate how they accesed a secure line and that I need their full names and addresses.
Never had any repeat calls and I see it as sport now whenever the phone goes. Turn the tables on them, don't be shy.0 -

We are with Virgin but bought a BT dual phone/answer machine last year, the True call one with call blocker.
Calls have to be announced before we can decide to accept them. Yesterday I cleared 11 calls from the phone & there are 2 on there today. We have not had an unwanted call come through our landline in months. We also bought one for my in laws and they also clear off loads of calls each week.
We paid around £50 for the dual set, best £50 I've spent in ages 0 -
Not sure if the Silent-Gard has kicked in??? But there has been nothing today at all.0
-
Is this the SilentGard you're talking about? http://www.silentgard.com/index2.html
If so, it says it doesn't work for international calls. Will it stop all silent and nuisance calls?
Unfortunately not, as many silent, abandoned and nuisance calls are made by companies outside of the UK who take no notice of the good practice measures adopted by most of the UK call centres.0 -
I always let my calls go to answerphone. I have never been one to let a ringing phone interrupt me! If I know someone is due to ring I will answer but other than that the nuisance callers can speak to thin air!!0

I had a succession of Out of Area calls which invariably turned out to be these pests and like the OP I have somebody living abroad, so we have a code - 2 or 3 rings, hang up, then call again and I pick up. No expense, no hassle.0

Told him to !!!! of as I knew he was a scammer and hung up.
Phone rang straight away and I didn't answer, but checked in case it was my brother as he would leave a message. Oh yes message left full of abuse and stating he would ring and ring and ring. Which he did like every 15minutes phone is ringing.
Any ideas what I can do?
Yeah don't tell them to !!!! off. If you didn't get defensive you probably wouldn't have the problem you've got now.0 -
OP - is he still ringing you??"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Like Jude, above, I often let my phone ring and don't answer, the family, including those abroad, have a code if they need me to answer or they ring my mobile. If I do answer and no one says hello I simply hang up. I never answer an unknown call or 08 number on my mobile and I never give my landline number to a company. My answer messages say that I won't answer unknown calls, therefore if they need to speak to me they must leave a message.
