Bank of Scotland claim (OFT)

Hi,
My first post on this site, so a little nervous!
I have been trying to claim my bank charges from HBOS since March. I have had numerous problems with being sent the incorrect charges, not being able to talk to anyone or being put through to the wrong person. (standard problems i believe) sometimes spending up to an hour and half on the phone to them and still not achieving anything. I believe that they have been using delay tactics in order for them not to have to pay out my £4,000 claim. They denied my claim before I had even written a letter of claim. I had only asked for a list of charges. When I eventually received these I only got half of them and was told the remainder would follow. They didnt. I got a copy of the original ones they sent to me. I complained and then received a bank charges request form which I completed and sent to them with a list of charges that I had put together (i found all my old statements) I got sick of waiting for them as was told it would take another 4 weeks to get the charges list that I asked for 8 weeks ago! I used the templates and did as Martin suggested. After waiting 5 months I get no letter of offer but a letter explaining the OFT decision and that my claim will now be put on hold. AAAGGGGHHHH im so angry about the way the HBOS has treated me and wonder what my next step should be as I really feel that they have just been delaying to avoid paying out to me. Is it worth contacting the Ombudsman? Most people I have read about/chatted to, have at lest received an offer from their bank. I have nothing. I dont seem to hear about many Bank of Scotland cliams. Can anyone help? Has anyone been successful against the HBOS?
Sorry for the rambling!

Yes I have been successful with the BOS. Like you, they tried every stalling tactic there was. I first asked for statements in January and passed my claim on to the FOS in June. I received an offer dated 26th July and accepted it however I am still awaiting payment. I don't think it would do you much good contacting the FOS just now, as they are also putting all claims on hold. I know how you feel, it is very frustrating. I felt exactly the same when I heard the announcement and expected mine to be put on hold. When I arrived home on 30th July, there were 2 letters from the FOS, advising me that the BOS had given me an offer. They were dated 26th July, so I made it in the nick of time,

Hi Bear,
Got one of the payments today. BOS mucked up. They paid the sum agreed for our joint account (been closed for over a year) into my hubbys business account. This account is in his name only. Not that it matters, at least I don't need to wait on a cheque clearing. Will withdraw it tomorrow, before I phone to complain and ask where the business account funds are
