Acer Aspire Motherboard faulty

As above, so need to send laptop to pc repairer. They will accept laptop with the hard drive removed as I am concerned about personnel data on it. In this situation how will they be able to test the laptop?

Your thoughts please.

UBCD/Hiren's/Linux ..all have a type of operating system that runs in RAM only, so you can check the machine without a hdd in it :)

Also, some account were open, so didn't need to enter password.
Would these accounts still be open?

Enfield freddy, I posted the question, as I don't know what will work without the hard drive not in laptop.
Perhaps, someone else could give a answer if open accounts will be accessible in this situation.
    Thank you

NOTHING will work without the hard drive , the computer will just sit there saying "please insert disk" or "no operating system found"

if you do not believe me , why not try taking the disk out and see what happens.

your programmes open or not , are not going to sit in the sticks of memory ,

lets see if anyone else agrees or will they all think like you?

Enfield freddy, it is not the case I don't believe you, it is the case I DID NOT KNOW what happens to a pc in this situation, hence why I posted the question and looking for advice.

the correct advice is stated above , please accept , or await other people coming back to tell you the same , you have had it explained that the quickest /easiest method of the workshop checking your machine is "UBCD/Hiren's/Linux ..all have a type of operating system that runs in RAM only, so you can check the machine without a hdd in it :)" ,

this is NOT a windows o/s

    getting hard to exlplain ,

have you tried removing your drive yet?

    not actually correct

You can do lots without a HDD in a system
You can boot to a different Operating System that you connect via a USB stick, or a DVD
From there, you can do lots of things

However. Nobody will be able to access YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION in this way - that is all sitting on your HDD, not inside of the machine.
